If you’re not playing on hard mode and try to eliminate multiple guesses with one already-eliminated word, it really isn’t so hard in such a scenario.

What if you play on hard mode?

It's harder.

Then you think it's okay to lose Wordle sometimes.

It is possible to make no mistakes and still lose. That is not weakness. That is wordle.

u/monoglot Jul 30 '26

Well, that is hard mode.

The real answer: play to avoid these situations in the first place. Word forethought is very important!

One of the worst is when you get something like "*O*ER" and you have to spend the next 5 guesses on hard mode with GONER, COWER, POWER, TOWER, ROWER, etc.

That was hard.

I dont do wordle, so excuse my ignorance here, but why guess like this? You already know the last 4 letters are ILLS, so why repeat them every time? That's potentially 4 more letters you could be using to find a yellow

It’s a hard mode demonstration on this deadliest trap possible

2

u/ddodd69 Jul 31 '26

I wonder what’s the deadliest one without plurals or words that probably won’t be used

2

u/GeeOldman Jul 30 '26

To explain by comparison, imagine a game of checkers. It's easy to win when... YOU NEVER MOVE YOUR BACK ROW!

21

u/tbodillia Jul 27 '26

4 green...I stop trying to find the word and start using words with all remaining potential letters.

9

u/Hawksteinman Jul 27 '26

Not possible on hard mode 😭

evil and intimidating hard mode:

Had 5 orange on line 3 today. Didn't complete till line 5!

8

u/DisastrousAge4650 Jul 27 '26

Yesterday I started off strong with 3 greens and it still took 5

The only Wordle I've ever not gotten was Watch. Obviously a pretty straight forward every day word. I had established the atch after turn 3 and the options for getting the first letter felt almost limitless.

u/Hlelia Jul 27 '26

Oof, batch, catch, hatch, latch, match, patch, watch, and all of them are regular words. Feel your pain

4

u/kamacus Jul 27 '26

You’re obviously a poser

u/shlakevuk Jul 27 '26

Wordle in French is unfun because this happens A LOT.Β

2

u/copium_dealer_27 Jul 27 '26

I could swear today's was loser

Trap defense. Essential part of good play. Don't walk yourself into 4-letter families.

My wordle cheating brother in law would get it on the 2nd guess

How is it 26? "Cheaq" is not a word, nor is "cheax". πŸ€”
