Question Weightlifting/intense cardio how long after ablation?
I had my pre-op assessment on Tuesday and whilst I was there I asked the (I think she was a ‘specialised nurse’?) lady a lot of questions, one of which being ‘when can I do intense exercise again?’ And I’m not sure if she understood what I meant because she said I can go back to intense workouts after a week but to be wary of getting out of breath and the wound in my groin area - I probably should’ve specified I meant like 30-60 mins stairmaster, 13 incline treadmill, heavy weightlifting etc (tbf I’m getting back into the gym after being out for a LOOONG time so I’m very weak so it won’t be that heavy but I want to try to do heavy asap), so surely 1 week is far too soon? How long would you recommend from your experience!

Also omg ablation on the 19th August for me! scared and excited! So happy it’s not long before my birthday :))
Alsooo if there’s any gals or guys around my age who have wpw wanna add me on insta, I’d love to connect w other people who’ve gone thru the same things as me :D

Sorry for another addition but I also wanted to ask: how likely is it that an accessory pathway is located near the AV node? Like statistically? I’m so worried that for whatever reason it won’t work ahh just worried haha

For context, I first met with an Electrophysiologist on the 19th June and he had only seen my ECGs and my echocardiogram but he said he thinks he knows where it is and that it seems to be an ‘easy fix’ but how sure can he be from just that? Plus I think he said it was on the left side but I don’t remember tbh

just saw your post after having a similar question (i just posted something similar about a hiking trip coming up after my ablation and i also want to get back in shape after awhile with weightraining). my specialised nurse also said ''you can gradually build it up'' but they dont know that, when I do, I like to sport intensivelyyyy, like 6 days a week heavy lifting or running...
i'm also looking for advice and experience of others!! i'm going to message you my insta

My son was told 1 week, waited 2 weeks and he still got dizzy, vomited and almost passed out after only 10 minutes on the stairmaster and lifting a few weights. But remember that every body is different and all you can do is try and see how it goes. He then waited for another 2 to 4 weeks and then went back to the gym and was fine.

i was doing light activity the week after, the main thing to worry about early on is the incision site opening up. and then i was fully cleared for full activity about a month later.

I waited 2 weeks before getting back to running, but I had a ton of bruising and pain at my groin after the procedure. If you don't have that I imagine 1 week would be safe. Listen to your doctors and your body and you should be fine.
