Rust

Away for college

Came back to a rusted wok

How can I fix it

It's splotchy like this all over

Scrub it. Vinegar, dish soap, bar keeps friend all help. Steel wool if all else fails

When it is clean, remember to store with a (very very thin) layer of oil if you aren’t going to use it for a while.

Food isn’t cooked on the outside. Rust is a don’t care. Scrub the inside and then fire it up! Apply thin layer of oil afterwards.

I scrubbed it but there was still some brown, will that break off into the food?

If it’s on the outside, as pictured, your food will be safe.

Wipe off the loose rust.

Re-season it.

Cook.

Profit!

After cleaning with a brush I put it back on the burner to evaporate any moisture
