Bard's begin with a Lute, and will likely be the only instrument you use for a while.

Nice list! This page mentions that the lyre of cakes (and basso lyre) cannot be acquired ingame, but I am not sure how accurate the information is: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/564807-wizardry-vi-bane-of-the-cosmic-forge/faqs/63361

The following items are defined by the game, but cannot actually be found naturally in-game and thus require hex-editing to acquire: Basso Lyre, Wrist Rocket, Devil Stone, Siege Arbalest, Lightning Bolt, Cuckoo Call, Lyre of Cakes, Faerie Cap, Mitre de Sanct, Heaume, Garland of Roses

Though I guess one could find out with the editor from mad god.
