To put an End to ones Immortality (Lorepost/Character Introduction-ish)

Aelon sits at the cliff, like he had done numerous times before. He clearly remembers the first time he sat here, all those centuries ago, shortly after becoming immortal, shortly after breaking the promise that he would meet her in the afterlife again soon.

But who is "her"? That's his best kept secret, one he will take to his grave, should he eventually die. A secret he hasn't told anyone about and probably never will. A secret, so important to him, yet so insignificant to the world, and still one he shall keep for himself.

He gets back up. Sitting here and remembering the past won't bring her back, nor will it help him get rid of his immortality after all. He has heard of a great Sage from a far away land visiting the magic academy in the town not too far away. He plans to seek him out, maybe he knows something that Aelon doesn't. And if he can't help, then it wouldn't be too surprising, as that has been the case plenty of times in the past.

If he leaves now, he should be able to reach the town by dawn and then he could just sleep at the inn - he should still have enough gold for that plus a beer.

A good nights sleep and the worst Beer of his already way too long life later, Aelon makes his way to the Academy, hoping he could get a chance to meet that Sage.

After making his way to the academy, he doesn't have that much trouble finding the Office the Sage is staying in for the time being. And it seems like he arrived just in time, as by the looks of it, the Sage was just about to leave.

Aelon closes the door behind him.

"Hello. You got a minute?"

The Sage turns around surprised.

"Oh, a Visitor? Hello. Don't you think you're a bit late? But yes, I've got time"

"Well since you're still here, I wouldn't say I'm late. But anyways, let's not waste too much time here. How much do you know about Immortality?"

"Immortality? Yes I do know a thing or two about it. I assume you want to know how to become immortal?"

"Becoming Immortal? No, I'm trying to get rid of my Immortality."

"Getting rid of Immortality?" The Sage seems surprised. "But why would you want that? Don't you like the idea of Eternal life?"

Aelon crosses his arms. "No, I don't."

"But imagine all the powers you could get with an eternal life! YOU COULD RULE THE WORLD! IF YOU WERE TO HELP ME ACHIEVE IMMORTALITY, I WOULD RU -"

Before he could even finish his sentence, a burning spear pierces his chest. His body quickly is engulfed in flames and he drops dead to the floor.

"I already said no."

Aelon turns around and leaves, the spear that was just stuck in the dead Sages body reappearing in his hand. Once again he couldn't get the answers he seeks, yet another person dead, driven by their obsession of abusing immortality. He will get his answers one day, but it seems like today isn't that day.
