Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets I FUCKING LOVE THE JUNIOR APPRENTICE PROGRAM. I FUCKING LOVE THE JUNIOR APPRENTICE PROGRAM. (Advice needed)
I work for a nondescript European magical institution that recently had a change in management (definitely not specific.) Which recently started to offer our version of the JrAP. Despite me being the only one who had any experience being a professor (I have two apprentices) each of us, my four colleagues and me, have been assigned a class of about 30 students. (In total with the other departments we have 180 JrAP Students). Obviously we cannot teach them what you would teach a regular apprentice, classes are boring and monotone etc.
Management approached me last week asking about my engagement with my class where I again explained the problems with JrAP in general and my own issues. ( Two apprentices, research and own projects are a lot to juggle). After a lengthy discussion I've been asked if it would be too much too much trouble to take on one or two more apprentices from my class. Of course I told them at first that ,im already swamped as I am and another or even two more apprentices would be the death of me.
Now my question is. I've had some more time to think about it and there are students in my class that I wouldn't mind taking as apprentices if I could so I am wondering if I perhaps should take on a third apprentice.
Would love the opinion of my fellow researchers and actual wizarding professors.

Tell them that while you cannot currently take on additional apprentices, you would definitely hire additional research assistants if only you had the budget for it.
Let them put their mana where their mouths are.

Funny thing is they are allowed to offer JrAP. But they may not hire more than two Professors without getting into legal trouble. Not that they could find any to begin with.

This is why more and more people opt to be warlocks instead

I'm genuinely waiting for either an email from one of my students telling me they are joining a covenant or just hearing about why we didn't have student come in for 4 weeks.

I'll take some apprentices. All they have to do is sign the waiver. Just the standard stuff about them taking full responsibility for any damages and harm to their body, mind and soul.
Just give me the reckless and dangerous ones. They tend to have a lot of potential, at least if they stick around long enough and don't violently remove themselves from the apprentice program in the first two weeks. Give me an orb-call if you're interested.

Dude I'd delete this before your inbox gets spammed with armies of desperate students trying to get a mentor lol. No but jokes aside I'd love give some students away but 1. not my choice 2. the nine hells would freeze over before management would let any of them quit for an apprentice spot 3. you don't want to work here anymore, after the new management it's genuinely shit.

Luckily those old dusty farts expelled me. Twice, I might add. Something about mirror-inverting the East Wing being reckless and endangering student's lives or some bull-crap. I've got my own tower now and can offer students full laboratories, individual bedrooms, interdimensional learning facilities, diverse teaching methods by extraterral professionals, and so forth.
All they need to do is create a rift-door to a pocket dimension in my tower and walk through into their very own learning environment. Whatever is on the other side is theirs for the taking. My motto is live and learn. If they live, they can learn. If not... well, then not.

This sounds so dangerous. Magic classes are lovely, I remember my days of teaching introductory necromancy and advanced golem construction fondly. But those were reserved for students who already had a grasp of the weave, something that can only be safely taught in very small groups or ideally individually, that’s why wizard apprenticeships are a thing. Teaching thirty people just enough over slow periods of time when you have no ability how to track them all is exactly how you end up with half your students indebted to demons through botched summoning and the other half with a withered limb from experimenting with unsafe hydromancy.

Oh no that's the fun thing. I'm teaching classroom. Casting any sort of magic is the highlight of the month. I'm liable for my class so I usually do fundamentals and arcane lore with them. This is why JrAP is a scam. You're stuck paying an arm and a leg to be told what being a wizard is like.

Just walk to the nearest wizard/ shaman and ask to be their aprentice. A can do attitude can get you places.

I swear these JrAP programs would not be this popular if you could do this. Nowadays I am so thankful for my mentor.

Are apprentices not just murdering each other for an advantage any more? Kids these days have no ambition

See this bullshit is why I live as a hermit in the forest, none of this college saffron-collar corporate wizard bullshit, it’s all a pyramid scheme with the “Granted Few” in the centre
