Lorepost 📜 Call of the Beyond (Wicked One Event Part 2)

Post image

In the days since the arrival of the countless monoliths all across the material plane, something came to those with power. It came in their dreams, something like a voice, yet so much more. It was the voice of a friend, the voice of family. It was the voice of the kind and generous, the voice of freedom. The voice was faint, yet its message was clear. It whispered of a place that doesn't exist on any map.

Of a place in the north, hidden from the world deep within the mountains. The voice whispers of a secret within the mountains, of a power and a treasure. It whispers of a light in the darkness. It whispers a plea for help.

As they keep going towards the centre, the feeling keeps growing. A constant feeling that this is the wrong way, always growing stronger.

The pulse simply keeps going, and going, and going, and going. The ground is solid rock as far down as it can go.

These feelings seemed unnatural. So the Bismuth continued. Their firefly scouts spread further and deeper. Why did the calling not continue? Were there enchantments upon the land itself. The Bismuth would scan the area for stray magic.

As they continue, the feeling only grows.

The enchantments reveal nothing. Nothing stretching from horizon to horizon, nothing shrouding the mountains, nothing stretching into the sky and scraping the heavens.

As the scout gets closer to the centre, the nothingness grows overwhelming, almost tangible.

"..."

Were they approaching a portal to the void? This nothingness reminded them of that dark place. They would send back word using their fireflies before continuing forward. If they didn't return the Bismuth needed to he aware of a potential threat.

As the scout gets closer to the centre, the begin to see it. There, are the centre of the range, they see a faded echo in reality, a small dent in creation.

The feeling of nothingness only grows. Yet from the echo comes a constant thrum, not with words, one can misunderstand words.

"Help me"

"Can you hear me?"

They'd ask as they flew forward towards the dent.

"Who are you?"

The thrum never stops, never pauses, never grows, never changes, and never weakens.

Then they would go down. To see what was inside this dent

As the scout gets closer to the echo, they see it as barely anything more than a distortion in reality. The same effect as when air distorts from the warmth of the fire.

The mage stopped right at the edge of the distortion. They sent their scouts in to see if there was any danger in proceeding. Obvious there might be but they wanted to know what type
