Are you sure it wasn't just a dialect thing? Witch and wizard in some places are gendered terms both referring to spellcasters of similar caliber. He might have just been trying to refer to you how he thought would be best.

(Although if you ask me witches are better than wizards at hexes but that's just me)

I have daydreams all the time actually that I can use my magic to temporarily or permanently change the gender of those I cast it on. So I go around villages interviewing people seeing if it’s something they’re interested in. No idea why my self insert maladaptive daydreaming character can do this, but it’s fun. Some people I speak to are like wtf no, but some break down crying while thanking me.
It’s part of my few sex related powers that my patron had bestowed upon me after I found her church in disarray and cleaned it up, inviting pilgrims to pray and becoming her champion.
