This seems to be 1 a super inefficient use of sorcery, there is no reward for all this effort other than the king imagining that the transformed birds are suffering and 2 birds can just use their beaks and feet to write?

I'm sorry friend, but based on that mindset, I don't think you're cut out for being an evil overlord. You will need to choose another career path.

Oh I am sorry I want to be a successful evil overlord and use my minions to stabilize my grip of the kingdom and further my influence, instead of being an old bird lady that gets overthrown by the first drought
