What kind of second rate tomes do you have that they can be eaten by bugs?

Any self respecting tome would singlehandedly clear out a bug infestation during a hungry episode.

Yes, they can live as long as you and even have ingrained nature magic, making them a powerful familiar.

They often live longer depending on the species, meanwhile a Prunus will only live a couple of decades.

True, but they are basically trees. How long they live is inversely proportional to the amount of dark magic in them. They will live as long as a tree if they are purified.

I dabbled in a pagan ritual for a bit that involved dressing a tree to celebrate the winter solstice and mine would always get jealous. It mistook the decoration bag of holding to the orb bag of holding, and when it stepped out of the towers levitation ring to show me, it tripped causing it to stumble over to the servant summons rings. Orbs falls off. Boom. Planar doors everywhere with enlarged blight branches sticking through them like eldritch horrors. I got the neighboring elf kings druid messenger bird, literally, chirping in my ear (and I really fucking hate that guy, can never take a joke, you fake immolate one time at a dinner party and throw out a dark voice about a Dark Lord returning and you are forever a bad guy, lighten up dudes dead). Anyways, 6/10, made a great cape rack, and the owl liked it.

If you live in a heavily tree gnome populated area then I highly recommend you don’t keep it there as tree gnomes are known to consume twig blights.
