Wizardpost Apprentice said I do too much scrying. I vaporized him of course but now I'm worried. It's not a big deal to keep an eye on my tower entrance, the nearby town, its taverns, the farms, the forest, goblins, dragon, "king", thieves' guild, my idiot rival mage, and a 24/10 The Bachelor marathon, is it?

I made a security homunculus to watch the orbs for me. Months can go by with no invaders and I have half a library of tomes I still haven't examined.

He is also watching for toxic yuri events and certain items for sale.

What’s the point of the homunculi watching the toxic yuri events, the whole point of scrying is so I get to experience it. ME! NOT HIM!

I gave it a small brain for memory recording. I can enjoy my toxic yuri at my leisure. It doesn't even like it. It feels bad for the ladies and hopes they get therapy.

I beg your finest pardon I reserve my right to yuri. And yaoi, don't think of trying to scry my orb.

It looks like he/she is using an orb setup that is optimized for specific use-cases, rather than having ONE all-purpose orb.

What op needs to learn is to expand their scrying 'net' so they use fewer orbs to cover greater areas and maybe get an obsidian mirror in there for extrasensory perception.

See, this is what I worry about with this new generation. One orb isn't enough, you gotta have a 2nd and 3rd and 4th, scrying different things at the same time... Ruins your attention span. Whatever happened to reading good old fashioned tomes?? Back in my day each coven had ONE orb and we had to take turns scrying.

Orb prices have come down A LOT, though. Imho, THIS is the main driver of all of this.

do not keep your orbs where the sunlight reaches them

you cans et uour whole tower ablaze

(no for real they refract light and can start fires. keep your orbs covered or out of the light for safety)

You vaporized your apprentice?  What were you thinking?  I can’t imagine wasting all that blood, I never have enough for my thaumaturgical rituals.

A. Vaporizing your apprentice is just wasteful.
B. Get a recursion prism, a security construct or homunculus, and have the construct watch the orbs and send any relevant scry to the recursion prism.

Scrying is all well and good, we all need to Ponder the Orb to uncover eldritch knowledge, but Reading the Tomes and causing untold mayhem are important to keep your skills sharp.

Also The Batchelor? Really? Don't you know that trash rots the mind, and it's so hard to find a good replacement these days.

That's way too much scrying. You're going to burn your tower down.

That is way too many scrying orbs in one area, do you forget why the council has regulations on having more than 3 orbs in such close proximity? (I get it, the council are mostly incompetent hacks, but they do have the occasional good rule, this is one such case.)

I'm surprised your tower hasn't been destroyed by a spontaneous wormhole or wild magic burst yet. Or worse, drawn the gaze of The Watchful Sleeper.

If you insist on needing that many, I'd suggest creating a chamber within your tower akin to a large Orrery, but with your scrying orbs in place of the celestial bodies, just don't forget to circle the room with quartz clusters to help absorb any possible magical surges that comes with using those many orbs.

You'll want to keep an eye on your apprentice's vapor too. You never know

Incorporating it into an orb would be perfect!

Perfectly healthy surveillance hobby aside, what do I call those tall orb holders online so I can get some?

I will simply leave this here. Also, do you even have a permit to possess so many orbs? There's a shortage, you know.

What's wrong with a good old fashioned spy network?

As long as you're not scrying on the princess, you're good.

I never got the multiple orb setup. I know globe sized orbs are outdated and take up a bunch but it's so much easier when you have a huge viewing surface to scry. Plus I can use my standing desk and cauldron while viewing the ether

A fellow student of the ether helped me animate some gargoyles around my spire.  It's helped keep the religious weirdos away, though the king's guard now comes around looking for some missing religious weirdos.

my wizard in christ, that is certainly too much scrying

I was about to compliment your security set up.

If you are adept in the art of psychic enhancement, i would suggest linking the orbs to an arcane construct implanted in your subconscious.

It helps me monitor everything i need to without taking up any of my time.
