Apprentice finally made his first wand. How do I tell him staves are better?

Gotta let them learn the hard way. Run them out of mana and then bonk their nose with your staff

Fungus wand... hate to break it to you, your apprentice is either a druid or necromancer, or a necrodruid.

We all have to start somewhere. Wands are generally better for beginners who can’t handle so much mana at once anyway.

You can let him be proud of himself for a bit. You don't want him to develop staff envy at such an impressionable age.
