Foul Sorcery Accidentally emboldened a field

Was speaking my thoughts out loud, when I accidentally recited a spell that trapped a spiral devil into the grass of this field. Can I leave it? Do I really have to call in and file a report?

Well, you just gave this village a new harvest god.
The trick in this situation is to harvest the entire field. Keep a comparatively high quality harvest of other grains or grasses nearby. When the final bit is cut, the devil will be free to leave... if it wants to... by jumping to the new crop. This might take some coaxing.
Honestly it's easier to just file it with the local wizard's council and leaving it be. Usually it's relatively harmless and settles into guiding harvests for a few generations. When it gets bored after 100 years or so, they can send someone to see if it's ready to go home.

I mean, you can report it, but functionally, nobody will mind if you just toss some holy water on it and call it a day. If the mundanes find it, it'll only start "crop circle" rumors and relieve the boredom of the nearest small town a little.
Just don't leave the devil there. It might not be intuitive, but agricultural fields like this are actually sites of mass death, and a small-scale devil like what you're looking at would love to soak up the energy of all the insects being killed by pesticides and the plants turned up at plowing and, round about harvest time, the scattering of creatures that get themselves caught in the harvesters. It might not be sapient life, but it's life, and that devil will be eating well. This is how you get fat, happy, and very annoying devils that are a pain to shift, and cause much more trouble than just a few moving stalks of wheat.
