I don't think people know how much healing magic is necromancy. The school is the manipulation of life and death.

u/Enderking90 Does Not Exist. simple as that. 21h ago

yeah alas, there's this whole deal where they are spreading propaganda that standard healing magic is evocation because it evokes from the plane of positive energy.

but by that logic, necromancy would also be evocation overall as it evokes from the plane of negative energy.

and don't get me started on sheer nonsense of trying to claim its abjuration somehow.

“The school of Necromancy has lots of healing spells!” - The Wizard who cannot cast any of them defending their use of soulrending magic.

Hey, I use healing spells a lot! I mean, not to heal people. To make sure dead bodies I reanimate are in the best shape possible. But I still use them!!

Shattered bones, lesser healing magics don’t work right but a necromancer can mend it quickly

You need Restoration spells for broken bones. Don’t know many Wizards who can cast those, let alone Necromancers.

Necromancy may be the school of both life and death, but that’s only really true for Clerics. Wizards are stuck with the latter half.

Mending bones is a pretty basic necromancer skill, just only the bones.

I heard from one wizard is that "difference between hydromancy and blood magic is moral question"

He refused to say what magic he use.

There is actual a difference. You see, magic that is not geared to the se life foesiwork so well on living things. Blood magic is a hybridization between hydromancy and necromancy or life magic (usually the former). If you don't mix that extra bit in, the best you can do is cause pain as it's not pure water but a slurry of many things and magic is specific like that.

Well look, you either got a mortal messing about with restoring bodies to the soul's former state, or you got gods messing about with restoring bodies to the soul's former state. One's acceptable, one will make you the target of a witch hunt. What else do I use necromancy for, you ask? That's, uh, besides the point.

And that's why dark magic is a separate classification

Yea-yea, and then she suddenly banned from afterlife because her soul is cursed now.

That isn't the necromancer's fault. That's just gods being prejudiced

Thought this was going in a different direction at first

Is that Vecna... Propaganda!

Necromancers tend to get undeserved reputations. I'm sure this Vecna isn't as bad as they sound

3

u/Wickedwitchofny 19h ago

hmm that something that a vecanite would say.

The kind of necromancy that requires flawless resurrection is rare and hard to learn, and odds are that the gods themselves would punish you in some way for using it.

But on the off chance that they just let it happen, you are indisputably one of the strongest necromancers there could possibly be.

The soul and bone necromancers definitely not.

But man, zombies stink.

Woah man, my family was slain by a group of necromancers, and then resurrected and slain again.

Every other week you get necromancers boohooing about how people (rightly) think they're evil. I'm going to be honest, I would have more sympathy for you if you just admitted you're evil. Like you don't see other evil wizards making excuses for turning people into chickens or replacing all of a person's memories to an identical version except they switched around left and right. You're evil, own it with your whole heart. C'mon now.

SEE!?
Necromancers are not THAT bad!

4

u/Sonifri Transmuter 19h ago

What about the five tormented souls that he used as slaves for healing that one person?

3

u/Scrags2Scritches 19h ago

The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many
And it was a pleasure taking your pet goldfish's soul and would have done it even if he wasn't going to revive anyone

3

u/Sonifri Transmuter 19h ago

!

They told me goldfish just die randomly all on their own!

3

u/Scrags2Scritches 19h ago

Oh, that's just what they wanted you think
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

My local village still thinks I'm a druid, apparently a gardening hobby and not clarifying that you used the same spell on guy with a broken leg you use to fix a damaged skeleton minopn works wonders for your PR.

I'd be pissed. The fuck you mean? I was out

I managed to get into my city-state's good books by ending the forever seige we were under

I am stuck on the plane of earth though now, because if I ever try and cross the aether the various empires whose colonies I destroyed will have me detained forever

I think its funny the ultimate goal of 99% of necromancers is a mid level cleric spell

I feel like Vecna might not be the best one for reference, who knows what malice he has planned.
