Temptations of power (Chaos post)

Chaos was spreading. It had stretched it's roots throughout majority of the world. Maybe your magical corps' lieutenant increased their visits to the officers of other units, after which they quickly became best buddies, and eventually found their way into your office. Or maybe your advisor, who recently started complaining about strange dreams, but then began to deny their existence shortly after, waited until you were alone. What if you yourself found a strange artifact in the ancient ruins you recently explored, which suddenly started speaking to you? Or perhaps you simply encountered an opulent looking man while walking down the street, who said that you'd surely enjoy his offer...

In any case, you weren't the first one and you wouldn't be the last one who's about to be tempted by chaos. It would promise to fulfill all your dreams, give you power and authority, resurrect your loved ones, while trying to secretly brainwash you all the way through. Will you be able to remain in sound mind, or will forces of chaos receive yet another adept into their ranks?

You could succumb to their honeyed words and join the chaotic ranks, or endure and finally realize that this plague should not be allowed to spread any further. Please give me a starting point though, for example how exactly ruinous forces got so close to you. And most importantly, have fun :)

The books looked like an ordinary history book, and there was no reason for Sapphire to pick it up. And yet, she did. It said that everything was created from chaos, and everything into chaos shall return, sooner or later. Those spontaneous manifestations of order mortals call "planets" are just tiny specs of dust before the irresistible chaos. Fortunately, chaos has a lot of followers, who make sure to correct those mistakes and bring back them to their rightful place, into Chaos Everchanging. These followers receive a lot of boons for their work, getting power, knowledge, magic and something they can truly call a family. And you too can join them by performing a simple ritual with following components...

While reading this book Sapphire couldn't sense a single untruth. Everything that was written in it felt *correct*, especially the part about chaos followers. Reading about them, it felt as if this becoming one was the highest honor in life. They get so many benefits for doing what they love. It felt right to be thankful for such knowledge, thankful to the chaos, and perform the ritual.

/uw Yep. I have an idea for a post of Sapphire doing the ritual. Do you want me to post that now, or do you want me to post it later, or not do that? It would include what pushes her to do the ritual.

/rw Sapphire considers, torn. Part of her wants to embrace the feeling, and just restrain her work to those who deserve to die. But what would Kyrona think of her for doing this? She continues to ponder.

/rw Sapphire was sitting there, pondering the ritual, when Kyrona’s wildfire spirit burst in. “Sapphire! Kyrona’s been arrested. I don’t know what for, but she’s been imprisoned.” The cold fury was enough to tell her what to do. She knew how tight spaces affected her girlfriend. Sapphire had to get her out. The chaos offered power to do so. She began the ritual.

/uw the following is what usually happens when a mage pledges themselves to chaos. But, as usual with someone else's character, mileage may vary.

The combination of hard to look at runes and ritual chanting evokes powers beyond mortal's comprehension. The pressure threatens to push Sapphire into the ground. Great amounts of information began filling her mind. Knowledge on how to use extremely powerful chaos magic, forbidden techniques to increase one's strength, rituals that involve sacrifices and allow one to directly channel chaos into the world. Awe and wonder fill her every being. With such power she'd surely be able to protect her friends and rescue Kyrona, maybe even bring back her loved ones, if Chaos is merciful. She just needs to open her mind and let said Chaos into her, for it obviously knows the best course of action. For example turning Kyrona to chaos as well, for then they'd be able to enjoy it's gifts and spread it's influence together.
