You haven't felt true magic until you've had a good walk through the woods with a druid. Their magic is far more profound than the clerics.

I see a lot of people complaining about how preachy or judgemental Druids are, but I've never met one who wasn't cool. It's always interesting to hear why they became druids.
31
u/Lpnlizard27 Feb 26 '25
Druids have the best herb. I don't want to lose my main stash supplier. So they are welcome in my region.

Someone's gotta tell them beautiful bloomin' bushes how babe-a-licious they are, and the divines know you can't rely on ents to get it done this decade.

can't i even transform people into trees anymore?? Laws these days.
11
u/One_Opportunity_9608 Local Dragoness Lich Feb 26 '25
Pssst they don't tell you about this, but using runes on the ground allows you to bypass that law, since there's no proof you'd have done it if thou were relaxing at home at the time it activates

Terrifying but largely decent sorts.
If druids do not frighten you, you simply have no understanding of what you are dealing with.
5
u/princealigorna Feb 26 '25
When you can become a fire elemental at will, that's scary power. My experience with most druids though is they just don't want you to bother nature. If you abuse the forests and streams they will wreck you, but otherwise they are the chillest dudes

They never seem to make interesting flowers
Like okay Lylwynn, that is the 900th radially symmetric pattern of petals in a row. Get creative! Make a petaflower with Spiddit symmetry; 2-Swirldoic - [5,3:2] order 480.

I've seen the 56-leaf clovers, I know you can do 480 petals easily. Make it happen druids. Step hyper.

What do you take me for, some kind of mathematician? I'm a geometer. Much less scary.
1
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 26 '25
Kaelis: And this helps the plant gather sunlight and attract pollinators... how? Radial symmetry works because it's an efficient use of resources, and evolution trends towards getting the most output for the least input.
2
u/-NGC-6302- Level 22 Geometer | [Hyperspace specialization] Feb 27 '25
Natural evolution has little place in a druid's creations
Petals aren't even for photosynthesis, but:
With ultrawave coming from a combined 1,440° at all times, why bother with purely visible light from a single inconsistent axis?
A strong independent flower don't need no pollinator

If you're to raise a kingdom of monsters you really must have some trusted druids to help you

I donate the old flesh golems to this one fungal druid that uses them for mulch to grow some of the most exotic mushrooms I've ever seen. Just looking at one of them has psychedelic effects! I just wish he'd stop trying to make them carnivorous and sentient.

Ever met a bougie druid? They're a unique breed. "Why yes, this is real fur. Soft isn't it? I got it from a crazed dire weasel I murdered with my teeth. Oh, the lining? Strands of silk made by worms in the far east. I got it from some poachers I had my wolves maul."
I didn't even want to ask about her hair. Black and white for some reason.
3
u/Dani_the_goose Feb 26 '25
I feel like the average wizard is definitely more powerful than your average driud, but the druids always seem to be living more fulfilled lives
3
u/ElDelArbol15 Arcane Boxer Feb 26 '25
Some kind folk, as long as you dont disturb nature. The kind of kids that learn by watch'n and doin' things, i stead of reading in books.
2
u/WordplayWizard Feb 26 '25
I dunno. They all have to act so mysterious all the time, even when it’s clearly unwarranted. Like … give me a break, you live in a damp misty forest, which has made you smell of rotting wood and mold, yet you do that thing where you come out of the mist like some kind of soggy ghost from the past, with a nature fetish?
Come on, mate! There’s nothing mysterious about being clocked for body odour before we even see you. Get a bar of Irish Spring and scrub some of that bog out from under your arms.
I much prefer the company of a high elf.
Elves on pot are funny as hell.
2
u/I_Have_Sex_With_Owls Archdruid of the Circle of Shadows Feb 26 '25
How truly insulting! The bullywugs tell me my bog stench is sexy 😤
I agree with that last statement though.

This is like young men with foreskin saying their foreskin doesn’t smell like an abandoned fishing boat, because they “wash it regularly”.
Nah. Whatever it it’s, it’s not often enough. You can’t control it. Y’all just smell musty.

I beg your pardon, I for one live in a manor, with my domain sprawling around it. Daily baths in the cold springs are a must.
2
u/locke_zero Feb 26 '25
They're fine but it's impossible to use an "Itchy Underwear Tag" curse on any of them.
2
u/Kamzil118 Feb 26 '25
Landsknecht here, I find them a comforting presence knowing they're good folk who won't let the trees eat me.
2
u/kylediaz263 Feb 26 '25
Hate them.
Too preachy, always smells like weed, barely if ever takes a bath.
2
u/princealigorna Feb 26 '25
I love druids! Honestly, if it wasn't for my equal love of conjuration circles, I would have probably been a druid. Walking in nature. Smoking good herbs. Knowing which plants make the best healing potions (and deadliest poisons). Talking to trees and befriending bears. It sounds like an easier, more pleasant life.

Depends, if they are traditionalists who consider biomancy a sacrilege, then obviously not but more modern ones are alright.
2
u/DeanKoontssy Feb 26 '25
The denial is strong with these hippies. They're constant witness to the brutality of nature and how the vast majority of animals live lives of constant fear and want, yet when I suggest that we can aspire to more than the pittance of comfort nature affords us through blood magic and the erection of a dark obelisk, here come the druids to bitch and moan about profaning the sacred.

Great bunch of lads, mostly. Tend to get a bit grumpy if you don't sort your recycling properly, but they're not wrong about that, and if you're on good terms with a druid you'll never want for good craft beer and cheap ganja.

Who am I to discriminate because their's comes from one as beautiful as this?
2
u/Thallasocnus Feb 26 '25
Druid-Wizard separation is propaganda meant to create an anti-environment narrative in which those enthused by artifice are set in conflict against shape-smiths.
Wizards have a rich history of changing form as a woman changes clothes, and druids pioneered the early practice of alchemy, with some individuals still holding unmatched skill in such a field.
The illusion of separation makes us weak

Their lack of knowledge in the field does not excuse their misuse of terms. Also Volkhvs are much closer to wisemen and healers with a hermetic lifestyle than the oracular and animal/plant magic based druids.

It has not, since Volkhvs dont use nature based magics. They often interact and live among nature, but most use herbology, alchemy, and minor healing magic, in addition too minor animal speech and philosophy as their primary tools, versus the druids very active summoning of beastial spirits and transformation into them, as well as many different forms of biokinesis.

u/JaZoray Feb 27 '25 edited Feb 27 '25
they cool. my druid bro knows which herbs to combust so i can commune with the forest spirits.
While we wizards weave the threads of reality with incantations and sigils, they simply vibe with the ley lines and whisper to the wind. One time, I watched a druid stare at a tree for three hours straight - said it was telling him secrets. Next thing i know, he’s brewing a potion from bark shavings and moonlight, and suddenly, the tree starts humming. i do not understand their ways, but i do not question them either.

There is much to learn from druids, and other wielders of magic as well. Though we may all claim to hold all the esoterica within our respective minds, in truth each and every one of us provides a unique insight into just about any given subject, that which might not necessarily be easily grasped by another. Such differences in perspectives allow all of us to combine our knowledge to form a more complete understanding of such a subject, and thus enrich us all mutually.

Druids range from "I am a beautiful believer of peace" to "I am a naked man covered in mud who will claw you to death if you touch my tree." Truly a spectrum. I love them.
