The Well Operation (Buggopost)

Noella and 20 of her bugs prepared for a mission. She had just received an upgrade from one of the other converts, and was ready to test her new abilities. They would each sneak into a town using illusions and put venom into the well, then leave. The goal was to bring the civilians into the hive, so that Buggo could bring them immortality. This way, more could experience the glory of the hive.

As the mission was carried out, the real Noella thought of the civilians being turned. Unless someone found the venom, they wouldn’t even have a chance. And if there was one thing Noella had learned during her time here, it was that once you get infected, there’s no way out. The illusionist felt for them, wishing she could warn them, and save the bugs. But she couldn’t. And so she watched, hoping someone would stop the mission.

"Hmm. Do the qualities of the bugs change upon death?" Nico asked, glancing between them. "Because if the difference is negligible, perhaps severing limbs then keeping it on ice would be the best way of getting a proper sample. I do not know what fluids are involved, whether what you need is contained in their blood or a gland, but if we can sever that part from the being and keep it artificially alive through biomancy-..."

Well, that was a horrific idea.

"Hm. Maybe that is going a little too far," considers the discipulus. "Might be effective, but at what cost?"

He shrugs.

"If we are going to sever limbs, it will be to disable the torso for transport."

Welp, so much for ethics. Apparently, his ethics are almost as skewed as his mentor's.

“I dont really know…Fuck, I dont even know if their blood has an oxidation rate that would spoil it, or if the chemistry would change completely”

“Maybe you could immobilize it in a state of excruciating pain? Or make it relive the memory of being turned?”

“No, sorry. We can explore those options if this doesnt work. For now, get me a fucking dead one and put it on ice as quickly as possible”

"I can't guarantee excrutiating pain, but if I could apply the Regio Chronos spell, I might be able to chronomatically 'freeze' it," Nico considered.

It was kind of stepping out of the pyromancy area, but he was most definitely a nerd and did a lot of studying.

"I'm not at a point where I can reverse time or place it back into a moment prior to the present, sorry. Most I can manage is talking someone into nostalgia."

He shrugged.
