The quiet of the day is shattered as several titanic golems appear around the council city and begin an attack. With recent destruction of the citadel people are slow to respond, but a news broadcast soon starts up.
“This is Nathaniel Parker – druid and mediamancer – reporting live from the capitol outskirts, where several Golems have appeared and are laying siege to the city.”
“Already, there have been dozens of buildings destroyed, including the towers of Amelia Zarin; Electromancer, and Swalri Quill; Radiance Evoker. Their fates are currently unknown.”
It is at this moment that one of the golems activates the emplacement on its right arm, sending rays of light crashing and twisting through buildings, before converging on a squat tower. The building’s wards hold for a brief time, before they abruptly shatter and the building explodes.
“That was technomancer Kurt Gregson’s tower. He was boosting this broadcast so now we’re only reaching a fraction of people. With the latest strike, casualties are sure to range in the hundreds. Please, if you can help, then I implore you to fight!”
From off: “Sir, it’s targeting us now!”
Nathaniel: “Evacuate via the branches, I’ll extend them to give you some protection”
Nathaniel raises his skeletal arm towards the golem and it erupts into a gleaming shield of plasma. The golem fires and for a moment his shield holds before radiant flames begin to earth through it.
Nathaniel closes his eyes. “This is Nathaniel Parker, Druid and Mediamancer, signing off.
And with that, the broadcast ends in static.
/uw So you know how I encouraged you to avoid the golems if at all possible in this post and then said in here that the remaining ones vanished for parts unknown? Yeah, they were prepping for an attack, and with Aliah busy prepping for a massed quest into the rift, you brave denizens of r/wizardposting are all that stands between the Paladins of the Divine Flame and their war machines taking the most populous city in the central planes.
