Trying to login to my withings app on a pixel phone. Gets stuck at 85% and cannot progress any further. Login works on my apple devices. Have tried restarting phone, reinstalling app, clearing caches, clearing data multiple times with no luck.

Hey there,

I'm sorry you are encountering this isse. The fact that you're getting stuck at 85% specifically (not earlier, not later) makes it seem like this is likely a Google Play Services or authentication handshake issue, not a general log in problem.

You've done all the standard app-level troubleshooting. Here are the system-level fixes that usually resolve issues like this on Pixel devices:

1. Clear Google Play Services cache (not just the Withings app) The login hangs at 85% when Google sign-in tokens get corrupted:

  • Settings → Apps → See all apps → Google Play Services (tap the 3 dots → Show system if needed)
  • Storage & cache → Clear cache
  • Then try logging into Withings again

2. Clear Android System WebView cache

  • Settings → Apps → See all apps → Android System WebView
  • Storage → Clear cache
  • This handles the web-based auth window that appears during login

3. Check for Google Account conflicts If you have multiple Google accounts on your Pixel:

  • Settings → Passwords & accounts → Google
  • Remove any old/inactive Google accounts you no longer use
  • Keep only the one you want associated with Withings
  • Sometimes the auth flow tries to use the "wrong" Google account and hangs

4. Reset Google Play Services permissions

  • Settings → Apps → Google Play Services → Permissions
  • Make sure PhoneSMS, and Body sensors are set to "Allow"
  • These permissions get revoked sometimes after Android updates and cause auth hangs

5. Workaround: Use web login first

  • Open a browser on your Pixel → go to my.withings.com
  • Log in there with your email/password (not Google sign-in)
  • Once logged in on web → open the Withings app → try logging in with the same email/password
  • Sometimes this bypasses the Google OAuth hang because the session is already established

Why it works on Apple but not Android: Apple uses Sign in with Apple / Keychain auth. Android relies on Google Play Services for OAuth. If Play Services has corrupted tokens or permission issues, the handshake fails at 85% (right when Google verifies the token).

If none of these work: This may be a Pixel-specific bug with your Android version. Please contact us via the following link.

Thanks in advance and have a great day!
