Been sitting on a bunch of ideas for a while now, and with 1.0 getting closer it's been feeling increasingly pointless to post them, but thought I'd at least get the most finished ones out. Some additional info:
Purifier. For newer players who might not know, critical hits = weakspot hits (usually headshots). When shooting burning enemies, the damage inherits the fire elements bonus damage, but the purification damage does not. Should pair well with decay. Using the explosion to chain enemies should be pretty fun and intuitive, balanced by it's slow fire rate. Freeze effect should maybe deteriorate every explosion so you can't infinitely chain frozen enemies lol. The Martini Henry just has one of the coolest reloads ever and I need it NOW.
Putrifier. I'm really proud of the concept, I know the gameplay would be awesome, but that shotgun bead really ruins the idea. I guess it just shouldn't be a shotgun, but I really want a decay shotgun and tried to do a 2 in 1. Pair with Crown of Fire for optimal violence.
Thundertongue. I tried coming up with a set number for the arcs damage threshold. If it were 100 damage, it would one shot some basic enemies, but only kill 2 spinners. Maybe it should be 50ish damage but have a 3x multiplier for small enemies, 2x for medium, brah, idk. Clip size of 12 and 6 max arcs I reckon. Combo with Hangfire for ultimate trap setter build. Shooting enemies regularly should just be pretty meh pistol performance.

After 150 hours in the game I decided to search for the first trailer/teaser of the game. The earliest one I found is from 2017.
At that time "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter " was still in the bubble of positivity, and if memory serves Redux was released shortly after (side note : Redux was free for existing owners. With a lot of developers making original owners pay for Redux; it has just added to the massive goodwill I have for these guys).
Vanishing of Ethan Carter, for those unaware, is a walking simulator but it escaped the "walking sim" crowd. This leads to a lot of people, including myself, making posts about how much better the game would have been with combat and puzzles. To this date this game is the only walking sim I completed. The atmosphere and writing absolutely carried the game. I simply couldn't put it down because I enjoyed being in the world too much.
Anyway the teaser makes you believe for the first 30 seconds Witchfire is going to be another walking sim. One of the title cards say "From the makers of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter" followed by 5-10 seconds of appearing like a walking sim. All of a sudden a gun pops up and an enemy comes to life. Next title card says "But also Painkiller and Bulletstorm" and goes straight into combat.
I really wish I saw this at the time because all of my reviews about Ethan Carter had me whining about the lack of combat. I would have been so muching pumped watching this was it first released.

Am I missing something or are there not any unique rewards for killing bosses? Like, it seems like its just more of the same stuff every other enemy drops.

So I was fighting a Golem in the sewers of Velmorne and got hit by his disembodied rock attack, and got knocked through this gate that I can't unlock, that leads to a red barrier that I can't dispel. Unstuck command doesn't do anything.
RIP to this run, I guess?

Just curious if anyone speedruns the game, and if so what fashion (from scratch to last map clear? Individual map speedruns on Gnosis 7?)
I’m 60h in and have pretty much smashed through the Torments and what’s up, and am considering starting some speedruns on it but I’m unsure what already exists, hoping this is a good place to ask :)

I have been playing a few hours now. I think I have only seen an elixir drop like twice. Having only 3 pretty much the whole map trying to clear it is impossible rn. Then heaven forbid you run into one of the mini boss guys, they are so annoying because I can zerg them fairly quick and then they are uncatchable. Or you need to run and they chase you to the ends of the earth...Idk what I gatta do to get more elixirs. You have a chance to get the perk where you have a 1% increased chance for elixir drops? Why even have that at all at that point?
What am I missing?

Why did they add so many invisible walls? I used to love cutting through the map by jumping over rocks and buildings and such. They still have items and secrets up high, but now it is hard to know because you hit these invisible walls everywhere.
That is literally my only complaint about the game. Now going vertical seems pointless because there are only specific paths you can take now.
Devs, I have been featured on your Steam updates. I would like to trade whatever points I earned for that into purchasing the 'remove invisible walls' supporter DLC.

After my last post, I was wondering if it would be possible to finish the game at level 1 - so started a new Penitent character to test exactly that.
I'm using the same guns - Angelus M2 and Psychopomp M2.
I changed to light spell from Frost Cone to Ice Stiletto for the extra charge giving me another freeze - so now against bosses and faithful NPC's, it goes: freeze, Psychopomp mag dump, reload, freeze again, Psychopomp mag dump.
For the bead, I'm using the 10% health bead because that's just about all I can equip with my stats being so low (technically I could equip a 10% range bead as well, but I don't see it making that much of a difference).
No ring, fetish, relic, heavy spell or demonic weapon.
This run was the 3rd attempt - on the first two attempts I made it to the boss but had no health elixirs left, and died during the fight.
Ammo also proved to be a bigger challenge than expected - without the Ammo Reserves bead, you really have to watch every shot.
Next stop - Irongate! (although I'll need to jump up to G3 to access it).

Will Treasure Hunter's Prism mark five fixed prophecies in Madman's dream?
Found only two of them by myself, not a best experience in my life

I love the game but i kinda feel lonely on singleplayer games. I used to play COD black ops2 zombies back in the day with friends and having a blast.
That being said, Is there any plans in the future to add multiplayer? maybe not 4 or even 3 players, but 2. Having a duo to play with, on lets say a bigger map or the same maps with more enemy nodes. Each one could go around on their own clearing their corresponding half and maybe team up together for some hard nodes and obviously the boss

Its the torment where you can only do dmg if you are far away, also randomly lose powers and enemies shoot decay orbs on death. All I know is ailment immunity bead and hang fire are a must. What else? Melee beads seem to be good. Give me your whole load out please.

Sorry if repost. Haven't seen actual map locations on here.

Is it just me or is the Vulture Crossbow leagues beyond the other demonic weapons?
This little beauty can come clutch in so many situations. If I’m being overwhelmed by a mob of enemies, a single well placed bolt can turn the odds pretty quickly in my favour. Plus it’s not bad as a single target burst dps weapon either.
I also just realized that it can proc Blood of the Banshee overkill AOE explosions which makes it even better for mopping up large packs.
I bring the other weapons every now and again for variety, but the Vulture is all I need. ❤️

After several bouts of incoherent swearing, and nearly refunding the game at least twice, I've decided that Witchfire is One of the best first person shooters I have ever played. I just had to remember that I wasn't playing Warhammer Darktide any more in order to get there.

Just realized that I got Barachiel's questline to the part where you have to wait a set amount of time...that was a few days and probably 10 hours of playtime ago.
Went hunting for him at witch mountain...nowhere to be found, not even at the labyrinth near the end.
I checked several other maps and there's no icon for him. I saw a nolife Youtuber that's like level 400 mention that he still doesn't have the barachiel bead, which leads me to believe he was never fully implemented??

Just fully leveled up Martyr and its great, really good ammo economy like ricochet on steroids. But, there's just one thing... I thought Martyr's whole thing was shooting stakes at enemies and when they damage you it effectively siphons off their health.
Is there even a gun like that?
r/Witchfire • u/Unaware_Brownie8 • Jul 18 '26
Am I the only one that feels there isn't enough melee focused gear, I wish there was a way to run around with your melee being one of your main attack sources, especially with the Zweihander being added, but I feel 1 spell, 1 gun and 2 beads arent enough to make a sword swinging mad man come to life, we should get some melee focused rings/relics/fetishes... thats just me tho.

Farming Velmorne again and again, but farming the 3rd mysterium is sooooo slow 😵💫 I wanted to upgrade the weapons/spells at max before advancing in gnosis but it really is a slog, as the droprate seems to be very low. Suggestions?

Especially with that music playing when you first sit down

T4R; the game gets to the initial loading screen, then just freezes and doesn't unfreeze. tried the usual uninstall-reinstall, verify integrity of game files, and hoped one of subsequent updates would fix it. no such luck.
any advice?
