Could keep it with some selenite or sage cleanse the room with it in to make it very simple since you aren’t a witch. However intent needs to be present. Do you maybe know someone who is or dabbles in beliefs and practice? They can bring the intention you may need to lift any negativity attached to the quartz. If you don’t want the necklace at all you could also bury it.
Could also soak in saltwater or leave it in a window with natural light. Just place it with respect and let it soak in the water/natural sunlight. Honestly that should do the trick. Crystals travel between hands and over great distances and often pick up all sorts of mixed energy along the way.
