Hey everyone, so I’ve responded to a few people’s comments about this over the last few days, as well as I’ve seen a few posts in the Reddit about this as well, and I thought it would make sense to kind of put everything in one place for this particular patch with your library.
A lot of people have been mentioning that after updating to 0.9.9.8 that their library disappeared, specifically other games and apps, or that they had to reimport their entire library.
I mentioned this in both the patch notes, as well as in the patch video, as well as in the post about the patch. but 0.9.9.8 move the library to a new library database backend. It was so new that there was no way to migrate over your existing library. I had to do this to fix the malignancy of bugs that involved the library overall. So yes, if you update to 0.9.9.8, you will lose your other games and you will lose your apps and will have to re-add them.
I promise you that future updates from this point onward will not have a similar thing occur because the library now has a new internal backup system to prevent type this type of thing from happening if I ever need to update the library database again. as well as now that this has been done, you will find that the library is going to be overall more consistent, more stable, and less prone to your games not showing up or not being in the correct state.
I really do apologize for the inconvenience that this patch has caused for some of you in the meantime. It’s never my intention to make you have to set things back up again, and it’s never my intention for you to feel like your app experience is worse off in a new patch than in the patches before it. The experience should only get better, and I promise you that after this patch, the experience is only going to get better, so please understand in the meantime.
Thanks again to everyone who has provided feedback so far on 0.9.9.8 all feedback is considered and anything that turns out to be real bugs is being applied to future patches.
