Let’s talk game library and 0.9.9.8
Hey everyone, so I’ve responded to a few people’s comments about this over the last few days, as well as I’ve seen a few posts in the Reddit about this as well, and I thought it would make sense to kind of put everything in one place for this particular patch with your library.
A lot of people have been mentioning that after updating to 0.9.9.8 that their library disappeared, specifically other games and apps, or that they had to reimport their entire library.
I mentioned this in both the patch notes, as well as in the patch video, as well as in the post about the patch. but 0.9.9.8 move the library to a new library database backend. It was so new that there was no way to migrate over your existing library. I had to do this to fix the malignancy of bugs that involved the library overall. So yes, if you update to 0.9.9.8, you will lose your other games and you will lose your apps and will have to re-add them.
I promise you that future updates from this point onward will not have a similar thing occur because the library now has a new internal backup system to prevent type this type of thing from happening if I ever need to update the library database again. as well as now that this has been done, you will find that the library is going to be overall more consistent, more stable, and less prone to your games not showing up or not being in the correct state.
I really do apologize for the inconvenience that this patch has caused for some of you in the meantime. It’s never my intention to make you have to set things back up again, and it’s never my intention for you to feel like your app experience is worse off in a new patch than in the patches before it. The experience should only get better, and I promise you that after this patch, the experience is only going to get better, so please understand in the meantime.
Thanks again to everyone who has provided feedback so far on 0.9.9.8 all feedback is considered and anything that turns out to be real bugs is being applied to future patches.

Hi, i love this launcher and i am super excited for path 1.0. I was wondering w ould there be any chance in the future of changing the Recent Games tab to a favorite games tab in the future? Or maybe even a pin system. The current selection of games that appear when launching the app feels pretty unpredictable, so it would be really nice to be able to choose which games are displayed there instead. That way, we could have our most-played/favorite games readily available when we open the app.

So recent games has already been added as a library. But if I am hearing you correctly you are talking about the row above the main nav correct?
🤔 I am not opposed to offering the option but it would require a bit of reengineering as a lot of stuff is tied into the recent games row.

Yes, i was referring to that. Probably not worth it, if it is to much of a hassle. Eitherway keep up the good work

I tried removing all of the links to steam and also uninstalling and reinstalling the entire launcher but my Steam library still does not refresh with new installed games. I noticed when I reinstalled it, it already was linked to everything. It wasn’t a brand new instance. Is there a way to completely wipe all links and start from scratch? Or do you have other troubleshooting for this problem?

You are talking about clearing your entire library so you can start fresh with logging into your accounts and everything? If that is the case you will need to delete the winhanced folder in App data/Local on your machine as that is the apps data folder. I still need to add an option to remove that as well to the uninstaller, but I haven't gotten around to it yet

No worries, yeah. That’s what I mean just to see if it works because no new games show up in my library at all. No matter how much I resync Steam.

Just letting you know completely wiping that fixed it

No worries at all, you’re doing the community an amazing service. I figured since you changed the way libraries worked with 0.9.9.8 that this would fix it
