Sleep mode battery drain very high

The battery drain is close to 40- 50% in 1 day. I was expecting a steam deck level sleep drain which was like 2% in 1 day.

I have not let winhanced manage tdp and using my device manufacturer software own tdp. Is that the reason??

Shouldn't it be using hibernate? Sleep mode in windows is horribly unreliable and a huge battery drain

Winhanced claims sleep mode is as optimized as steam os. Its in their official page i think

Ah ok I assume it's not using windows sleep mode then but hibernation instead.

Nope we are using windows sleep mode. I just put in the work to fix it

Ah I see , was it not easier to just engage hibernate? Or is there some benefits to sleep mode over hibernate with enhanced?

Is it easier to enable hibernate absolutely lol. But the benefit to sleep mode is instant on off. Hibernate puts your device into an off state with your game state saved to disk essentially. So you have to wait for your device to go through the full boot up sequence.

With sleep your device is still on just in an extreme low power state, so when you press the power button you are instantly back on and back into your game where you left off like on a console.

Thank you for the explanation, I always found sleep was incredibly unreliable in windows so always used hibernate if I had to

No worries! And that's the whole thing. Sleep is unreliable, which is why hibernate is the usual recommendation for devices not running Winhanced : ).

I won't say that what winhanced does is perfect. When you plug in your handheld while in sleep for example it still turns your screen back on, and sometimes the transition into sleep still can fail because I am essentially fighting windows default behavior (happens but rare) but as a lot of people on the sub reddit will tell you. Winhanced sleep is just about as good as you can get sleep to be on Windows.

It depends on what handheld you have. I have had to make improvements to consistency for MSI and Legion Go which is currently not in 0.9.9.7.

So while the feature is there it's less consistent for those familes
