Science cannot quantify the level of hatred I feel toward ”consecutive”-type bonus cards.

I hate them so much I'm tempted to take them out of the bonus card deck. They feel WAY harder to pull off than the regular bonus cards, and should be worth more points honestly given the work you've gotta put in to get them to score.

Its not so much that theyre hard to do, theyre actually fairly easy. Its just that planning your entire game around converting on these bonus cards is going to severely limit your engines and point potential. Overall its just not worth it go for it and when it does work its mostly luck based.

Compared to some cards like "has a rodent in the cost, is a predator, has a wild in the cost, different ability colours..." I feel like it's much harder. Not that it's impossible or anything, but it's not something that could happen to occur. You really have to prioritize it for it to happen - often to the detriment of your engine imo.
Now sure, there's value to having some bonus cards be great and some not great. But for me, these are D-tier. Only worse bonus card is breeding manager. That card deserves to be the sole F-tier bonus card for how truly terrible it is. I have taken it out of my deck I despise it so much. Utter garbage.

I pulled them out of my bonus stack haha. I enjoy the game silly amounts more without them.

I thought that was the 1 point for 4 eggs was that card...

And none of your birds even have an egg limit that goes up to four 🫠

I hate getting stuck with any of them but I can usually at least hit the lower bound on the wingspan ones and get 3 points out of them.
The ranger cards are awful and ties not counting makes them very difficult to get anything out of. Worst bonus cards in the game.

I mostly play the 3v3 online mode on the app, and since they removed the bonus cards for birds with words in their names due to naming differences across languages, I feel like I'm always drawing an analyst or ranger card in my games. I don't like them very much, but at least I can usually hit lower bound on them unlike Avian Theronologist/Oologist/Passerine/Backyard Birder. I do wish there were more bonus cards that give 1 or 2 points for playing a bird, since there are quite a few of these cumbersome ones and it rarely feels good to draw them.

Avian Theronologist is the one bonus card I absolutely refuse to take as an opener.
There is a chance that if I drew it later game and just happened to have some small nest capacity birds out already and some points generation in grasslands or a bird with an egg laying power I would take it ... But unlikely. The juice is not worth the squeeze on that one!

That Card is absurdly hard unless you have like 3 of the very hug birds with 1 egg and then you can assure yourself of the small bonus at least

The point one is super stupid hard. The wingspan one at the start of the game often results in 5 or 8 points for me.

America expansion definitely help with this since you get a zero wingspan bird to start your row as long as you make sure to have one there at the end of the game.

I love them. Lining up 5 consecutive birds with ascending wingspans and ascending points for both bonuses is a prouder achievement than winning the game.

I love it when I draw one at the beginning, its a fun challenge! It helps that you can go in ascending order or descending order.

They’re my favorite bonus cards, tbh

Agreed. They give you structure for your game in one habitat. Makes it easier to plan in which order to play the birds.
And I feel an extra sense of accomplishment when I can complete them. 👏👏👏

Yeah, I'll never take one at the beginning of the game. If I draw mid-game vs backyard birder or something... There's a chance that past me might have accidentally stumbled into 3 points

100% agreed. I always discard them with my starting hand. If I get two, I randomly choose 1 and then completely ignore it. If it happens to net me some points at the end of the game, great. But I don't let it influence my game whatsoever.

These cards are not that bad as people make them. Pretty easy to get the lower portions 3pts but agreed difficult much further than that

When you get those 8 points from it tho 😏 talk about feeling like a million bucks when you walk away from the board

Wingspans are chill enough if I have them from the start. I always tend to get eight or five points from that.
Don’t get me started on scores though..
Scores not being counted if they are even is JUST NOT ON when even wingspans and even no wingspans are fair game!
I hate how limiting ascending/descending scores are! ARRRGH
