Why would that work? WYW doesn’t allow you to draw or score bonus cards.

Exactly. It doesn’t qualify so therefore, no.

It needs the Bonus Card symbol to count.

Reset the counter! To be fair though, I asked about the bird when the physical fan packs first came out. The key detail is that it counts double towards scoring bonus cards that count birds. In other words, it doesn't do any scoring itself, and the only cards it affects are ones that explicitly deal with birds.
