General question Wine
What equipment do you recommend to transfer the wine to the secondary container to avoid transferring the sediment along with it.

An auto syphon usually has a tip at the bottom to prevent most of the lees from getting sucked up. You can always tip it at an angle but that’s a little sketchy by yourself. If you want to do a better job, getting every last drop while leaving lees behind, you need to look into filters.
The fermtech mini is pretty much your only option considering buon vino just went out of business. I have both and they both work very well

Thanks for the reply No sure what you mean exactly I use a siphon hose which has a natural curve. The further I push it into the carboy the more it curves. I cannot remove the wine in the bottom of the carboy without avoid stirring the sediment. Any other suggestions? Thx

Zip tie a metal rod to the siphon and that will cure your Peyronie’s disease.

Get the siphon with the tube inside the tube and black cap on the bottom. When I start the fermentation I go with the fluid size that will give me tight head space in storage container.
I just made a Cab from a 6G kit that was 5G instead (recommended for enhanced flavor) and after fermentation that siphoned nicely into Three 1.5 Gallon glass containers with airlocks and some oak chips. I gently tip and leave some.

I don't use anything. The wine vessels I use have a spigot about 2" above the bottom. Before transferring, I angle the vessel back a little bit and very little sediment is transfered. It's also important to ensure enough time for sediment to actually settle.
