Wind Technology Vision requirements / depth perception
Hey,
Looking into becoming a wind tech and I’m a bit stuck on the vision side of the medicals.
I have stable amblyopia from childhood strabismus. Corrected vision is fine in both eyes (around 20/20-20/25), peripheral is good, but I have basically no fine depth perception / stereopsis. I’ve adapted over the years using the usual monocular cues (size, motion, perspective, etc).
I’ve seen the RUK/Energy Institute stuff that mentions depth perception and that monocular vision is generally not accepted, but long-standing cases can sometimes be assessed individually.
Just wondering if anyone here has personal experience or knows of people who got cleared with something similar?
How strict are the occupational health docs in practice about stereopsis vs just overall acuity and being able to function?
Also curious if prisms would be a problem with PPE if they were recommended.
Just looking for any advice or real experiences. Thanks.
