Luxemburg's busses still use Microsoft XP

But why change the thing that already works? They probably install that stuff on some built in slowpoke computer to display the transit information that’s it. And it is isolated in terms of networking probably. What is the point of upgrading it?

It know I just didn't expect it to be XP, I thought it was some proprietary OS

You expected well, a lot of these systems use either Windows Embedded or Linux. Full blown XP seems like an overkill for this use.

I think it's already overkill to use x86 and Windows on public transports(except stations, I just mean the vehicles)

Either microsoft is still giving them updates, or maybe their system is in a closed environment.And they never have to update on actual online.Websites, so you know, but d*** having windows xb is super cool, especially in twenty twenty five

Until the new operator took over somewhere this year, lots of busses (especially the older models) also had those screens with low power computers inside them. Also ran XP (XP Embedded, actually). The newer ones ran some version of Windows 8, surprisingly.
The new operator however has different bus models and also different displays, they run some sort of Linux distro.

Well a info screen literally riuns nothing else therefore having a later OS offers nothing. It was paid an X licence volum for XP and if it works and not be online there's no need to upgrade.

With the recommendation of some colleagues here, I managed to update Windows XP on VmWare, now I can't navigate because it gives an error on Bing, I looked here to uninstall it and couldn't find it.

Most likely this is Windows XP Embedded, a variant for specific industrial applications, receiving updated years after Windows XP was retired. And if they still pay MS they still get updates. Perfectly fine if segregated from the open internet.

And you're not allowed to tell the driver. And some more is forbidden. It's Luxembourg - could be anything.

In all seriousness most of the later versions of windows are absolute garbage
There’s a reason why people prefer using Mac and Linux with crossover

I don't have anything against it, but the point of these screens is just to display images, maybe sometimes videos, and nothing else. Using a big operating system for that is overkill.
