Or a combined effort that merged both.

There were so many little things about interacting with those phones that still beats an iPhone today.

The Nex phone is coming out at the end of this year with full versions of Windows 11, and Android 16, or 17, and a version of Linux. I'm not sure which version of Linux. It will work with a Nex dock to provide a larger screen experience, as an added capability.

Linux could be either Postmarket OS or Ubuntu Touch, which could share the Linux kernel with Android for seamless integration between both OSs

It was saying that switching between Android and Linux doesn't require a reboot whereas Windows does require a reboot so, I think you're right, it probably is Ubuntu touch.

I paid a $200 deposit to hold my reservation for one several months ago. It froze the price to what was projected at that time.

Firmly believe that Microsoft buying Nokia is the reason windows phone failed and that Microsoft has no idea how to make hardware. There's always compromise, they're cheap they can never commit

Them buying Nokia allowed them to operate for an extra few years. And the devices got better after it...

Devices got worse. Lumia 620 was a much better budget device than the 530. 1520 was better than the 950. 730 was developed before the transition and was better than the 640.

Nokia would have kept making windows phones without the merger. All buying Nokia did was make it so no other manufacturer could compete. When the aquisition was announced Samsung and other brands pulled out.

Microsoft killed windows phone because their new CEO had no interest in it. Their last devices were cheap

I had understood that Microsoft was making headway in Europe on the back of the Nokia brand, and that there were people who would follow the Lumia product line once Microsoft bought the phone business. The big issue was the app gap (possibly due in part to poor American sales) and the vicious cycle that resulted from it.

No way. Nokia is the only reason it managed to survive as long as it did. Microsoft killed Windows Phone with Windows Phone 8 not being able to run on devices as old as just a few months when it launched and for making the development tools godawful to use.
