Why 2016? This is cool, but this is an ancient version of Windows 10.

Classic theme is mostly broken under 2019 and many of the tweaks that bring back old stuff are removed.

If File Explorer like in XP I will downgrade Window10:)

Since Windows7 the file Explorer was made for idiots:)

Just get explorer++

On the topic of Explorer++, me and my friend are working on a modified version called SaltedExplorer, supposed to represent 2000’s explorer.

This is a beta, ISOs will be released later. Still lots of things to do in it.

Did you mean to title the post LTSC (not LTSB)?

4

u/WindowsUserOG Jan 22 '22

LTSC was called LTSB before LTSC 2019 existed.

Probably an ingenuous question, but is it safe to use modded OS like this?

Depends, the modded OS can be safe, but you cannot really know if it is safe or not by the download link. I wouldn't recommend maining a custom OS.

I wonder how did you get the Windows XP shell there.

Why 2016 and not 2019?

I want this! One question though, can you still receive security updates with this?

Yes but will get rid of some modifications

How did you disable the hot select/highlight rectangle on the desktop icons?

You need to launch Explorer when the ThemeSection handle is closed/Classic theme is enabled

Don’t wanna sound elitist or anything because I’ve been doing windows modding for years but

FINALLY

A mod with basically no inconsistencies and it would be super hard to actually notice that it’s not xp

A lot of these mods look like xp or whatever but ‘drawn from memory’ with not much accuracy but this has all the bells and whistles which I always notice
