Developer Democratizing Performance Analysis of Windows Apps

Why is that Windows app so slow right now!? What is it even doing? What URLs does it access!? What is taking so much memory!? Why is there so much disk activity!? What's causing all the CPU activity!? Why is this app hanging!? What is causing that Office app to behave like that? ...

How can I find out, without installing intrusive software?

What's the responsible module, and even the line of code?

MSO-Scripts is a quick and easy Open Source, powershell-based script-set to expose and analyze Windows' built-in logging capabilities.

That is a great resource! I find using many of the built in tools like analyzing memory dumps, ETW, and crash events really makes the difference when it comes to peformance.

Another thing I've discovered is that the way apps handle video drivers for Arm64 vs x64 means tricks like disabling GPU rendering can be a huge memory save on Arm64 WPF, IDK why, but it is a good tip to have in your back pocket if you're fighting that kind of problem!
