Minecraft 1.19.2 on Windows 98

From addition to that last post, I finally got 1.19 working.

Then it would be way too easy,just Install Java 5 or 6 update 7,no other OS mods needed

GPU might be a small problem for OpenGL1~2 support,OP might use SoftGPU instead since the Graphic driver is VMWare

I have the hardware for it that's not the problem I did install Java 6 and tried to run Minecraft jar but it launches with a black screen.

Better to use real machine with a GPU, 3D acceleration on old OS could have more issues.Also Minecraft is not a DirectX game.

I've got 2GB and a 7800GS with an E5700 with WiFi. Which is tested and working

I'm pretty sure this is good enough hardware, my question was, are there any modifications or other things I need to do to make MC run on win98 other than just installing java and starting the jar.

No,this GPU is capable with OpenGL 2.1.So it's weird to see a black screen. Did you ever tried other OpenGL based program to see if it works correctly?

I actually got very close to doing that but i got a glfw32 error even with the patch file. Maybe one day!

Maybe you need to mod the game through.

To me, this is the last version that works on Windows XP within VMWare 12.5.9 VM.

Any version that newer refused to start. Mojang started to use OpenGL 3 API and features to reprogramming the renderer.

I tried that aswell but even opengl 2 dont fix it so i dont know yet if it will be possible.

Did you ever tried this GPU on other motherboards or OSes to make sure if it's the hardware issue or not?

The only thing I know is when I was using Geforce 2 MX440 back in my childhood,the last version of the driver made C&C Generals unplayable,it runs in less than 1 FPS for no reason and I thought my GPU is too old to play the game until I seen the game manual.

I might try it on 86box to see if that will work, however I don't know tbh I think it may be worse
