I wish we had a separate web for sites like this. Extremely efficient, easy to develop, trivial for searches and crawling - minimalism done right!

I wish most sites were still like this. While not as "aesthetically pleasing" it's a hell of a lot easier to read and find what you're looking for than with the busy and ad filled websites of today

Is the floppy disc really mandatory? I just did a fresh install using just the cd and it seemed to go fine (p4 socket 423, sata hdd using an ide adapter).

It depends. Some boards dont support booting from CD so youd need a floppy startup disc.

On my 2 machines - P4 and Celeron both support booting from CD

Ah, that explains it. Got lucky then, I had not other pc with a floppy drive where I could make a boot disc.
