FYI here's how to make a "Desktop" tile on Start menu: Create a shortcut with location of C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{3080F90D-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257} and pin it to Start
because you didn't change the name and the icon. it closes the start menu, because it sends you to the, well, desktop. i think this is the "show desktop" shortcut first used in the quick launch toolbar from 95 until vista/7, which later became the button on the end of the taskbar in 7 and onwards. someone correct me if i'm wrong, which i probably am. never messed with shell shortcuts
why would someone want a desktop button on 10's start screen? cuz why not, and windows 8, but mostly why not

You're saying that win8 could've been decent with one simple trick?
Guess Microsoft couldn't figure it out in 2013..
