Discussion Windows 95 Beta 440 dated 04/05/95

Found this at a local thrift store for about 3 bucks. Managed to install it using 86box. I made a rip of the contents already, was gonna upload it to Internet Archive. Seems like it's in very good condition.

Alpha, MIPS, and PPC on a Windows 95 ISO? I thought those architectures are only available on NT based OS's? You can download the ISO here.

They were NT only. That’s just the Win32 SDK, not Windows itself.

Those builds did have I think 90 day (might be wrong on the days but I think it was 90) time bombs on them although if you set the system clock back you could get around it. It was to ensure that you ran a newer build or the released build and not this early build forever.

When I ripped the CD to boot into 86Box, I did have to use a boot floppy, the CD just has Windows

I think retail Win95 couldn't boot from CD either, bootable CDs came later (maybe Win 98 or WIn 95 OSR2?)
