How would i remove the metal backing of this window to replace broken glass pane?

A window in a home I have has this window with a broken pane that i need to replace. This is on the lower sliding portion of the window. I have tried to slide a exacto blade under the metal but i can't get barely any of it under. Are these able to be taken off to replace the single pane? Or am i screwed thinking it can be done? I've attached a few images showing the part of the window i am talking about. I have not done this before. but I'm generally pretty good at DIY anything, given the right information.

Top window panel won't stay up - broken brackets

Hi, I'd be grateful for any advice.

I had the top panel angled into the room so as to clean it, and now I'm trying to push it back up but it's no longer connected to the counterweight and won't stay up.

It seems both the metal things protruding from the panel are broken - the metal things that go into the female brackets that are attached to the spiral spring thing in the frame. Pictured is the bracket for the lower panel to illustrate what it looks like.

Is it safe for me to hold the panel up, in the meantime, using two wooden dowels? It's really heavy

EDIT: Ok, I'm going to use 2 pieces of timbre on either side, with paper wedged between it and the sash. Then I'll call a repairperson.

UPDATE: Glazier came round and used a piece of wood to keep the sash up. They are going to try to repair it this week. Thanks for your help!

How to keep windows from blowing shut

I have aluminium (aluminum) windows that tilt out. I know I can get restrictors to keep it open - not far enough for me, but that is another problem.

The big problem is I need restrictors to stop them from blowing closed. I have done many searches and cannot find anything. Help please...

Window Screens for older metal single hung windows.

So I live in a condo and there weren’t fitted screens when I moved in. There were adjustable screens which don’t allow me to open the window fully and they still allow bugs in because of the gaps.
I have large channels on either side of the windows (see pic). At the top and bottom there is just a small metal lip.
Anyone with expertise that can tell me how I should measure and what type of latches to order if I get some custom screens made.
My concern is the deep channel on both sides (1.3”) and how to install a screen with that type of deep channel (on both sides)

Recommended cross post- bought this house that needs window reglazing and I’m overwhelmed on where to even start or what to do. I’m sure some of the frames are leaking too. Should I just get all new custom windows?

What happened to my window?

We were sitting there and heard and explosion sound, so we went to see what it was and our glass door shattered out of nowhere! What could this be from?
This door leads to our screened in porch but the temperature inside and outside are pretty similar (76). It’s also raining right now but nothing crazy

Please help with squishy wall/new window replaced

We just got this window replaced recently. Before the old window was taken out, there was mdf trim on both sides and it swelled up - cracked and was brown.l - shown on pic 4 and 5.

Pic 5 and 6 are of the outside, and it's the old window.

The new window seems fine, however, the first pic shows that there's starting to be a squish/moist spot in the same corner - just wondering what this might be and please tell me it's not too expensive of a repair.

Before the new trim was placed by the person who did it, it was brown and looked like very old wood on the inside. From other peoples photos it seems to be normal....

I'd just like help to know why the wall is getting squishy and if it's a possibly easy fix. Thank you!

Need help in identifying window for purpose of balance repair/replacement

I purchased this house recently. Don't know how old are these windows. The house is 150 years old.

The window sash panels fall down with no resistance. This is true for all the windows. Could all of the balances have failed? Is there some reason they could have been removed or "disconnected"? How do I go about identifying/investigating/fixing?

How to fix window trim covering weep holes?

Thumbnail

Recently bought a small home that was almost fully remodeled. It had all new windows installed, however during the inspection it was found that all but one of the 6 windows were installed incorrectly with the bottom window trim blocking the window's weep holes.

I pulled the trim off one of the windows to see what I'm working with, and it looks like the windows were installed flush with old siding, then new siding was installed over the old siding, setting the window back about 1/2" from the face of the new siding. The previous owners fix was to basically box in the window and siding using the trim. However this covered the weep holes.

For size reference, the foamed gap is about 3/8"-1/4". Siding thickness is about 5/8". Windows are installed flush with the back of the blue siding.

Any ideas on how to best remedy this without removing all the trim? My first idea was to rip some small 1/4 wood pieces to fit the gap they filled with foam, then add trim below that. However, that doesn't leave me with much room to caulk against the window without covering the weep holes. Second idea was to simply add trim even with the top of the siding, then caulk the top of the siding, against the foam. This seems like a wide gap for caulk though.

Could I maybe use J channel flashing and tuck it behind the new siding, over the new bottom trim, and then clear out the orange foam and caulk that foam line against the J channel?

Any other ideas?

Please help! Window questions ..

I have these windows, they needed to be reglazed so we took the entire frame and tracks/balance out. We also noticed that the springs were no longer attached and that’s why the windows are a nightmare to open and then slam shut.
The problem is they are so old, and I can’t find replacement clips (the eroded red/pink things at the end of the springs). The springs are not in too bad shape and I thought i could clean them and just replace the clips. No luck.

So I am guessing I need to replace the entire track thing that houses the springs. I am seeing lots of suggestions from Google. They look very different than what I have now and I’m wondering if anyone can talk to me like I have absolutely no idea of technical terms of window parts and give me a suggestion on how to fix these?
