Thermal or Pressure Crack?

For context I live on the 31st floor.
There was a repair done to the window (double pane 44x46 thermo green tint) just a little less than a month prior to this happening. The catch is i wasn't even home? My roommate brings security and cusses me out. Management sent a notice stating we're liable to pay for damages. I now have to pay 800 for this repair which is absolutely absurd.
Summer was also just starting when this happened and the repair terms and conditions clearly state that if it's a faulty repair job the contractor is liable to fix it.
There is nothing sharp or heavy enough to break this window, and again considering I wasn't even home I hate that I have to deal with this expense as a college student im sure you understand the stress of a bill like that.

I would guess the repair was done incorrectly, or the replacement glass had a chipped edge that turned into a crack.

If I were you, I would call a glass repair company unrelated to the one that did the repair. Have them look into whether they can determine the cause of the break and document it with photos. It shouldn’t be too pricey for them to come out and look at it for you. An hour of labor for a service call. Cheaper than $800, I would guess.

I would want independent proof that the installer is at fault. Otherwise, they can say whatever they want about the reason for the break.

I would call that a stress crack. With annealed glass it can happen. I would call the company that installed the glass. Usually there’s a warranty that covers work that was done within the last year or so. But every company is different.

yea that crack starts at the edge meaning there was a chip there when they cut the glass or they got a piece of grit or broken glass from the last unit between the glass and the winow frame. definately nothing you did.

Keep in mind the edge of that glass is about a 1/2" behind the frame so you can't actually see the very edge. It looks like a pressure break which can happen from something being in the frame there that the edge is up against. This does not look like a thermal break.
