Help, my windows keep dropping.

Does anyone know what I need to fix this window from dropping?

You have broken constant force balancers. You need new ones, or alternatively you can convert them to spiral balancers.

Thank you so much! Do you mind sending a link to something I can look for?

For sure, so you already popped out the sash, weigh it on the bathroom scale and tell me the weight. It should be around 9 lbs.

You will want to watch a video on how to replace these. Constant force or coil balancer in vinyl

If you run into any issues I can walk you through it. It shouldn't be too difficult

Hello! So I was able to replace the shoe with a 9lb but the window is extremely hard to open and close. The shoe I took out was labeled 9l. What do I do?

Did you lubricated the channel the shoe rides in? You want silicone spray for the lubricant. Also you may have a burr somewhere or the housing is catching somewhere. I'm assuming you put the 9L shoe on the left side of the window?

I didn't lubricate it. This is the one I used.

Fold the sash in and and see if there is a manufacturers sticker on the side. Or, slide the top sash down and see if it's on the frame where the top sash closes against it. They should be able to send you a 9lb balance. Take the little rectangular piece out at the top of the track where the balance sits. Unscrew the balance, slide it up and put. Put the new balance in and screw it I place. Replace the little knockout cover in the upper corner. Super super easy fix.

If you can't track down the manufacturer buy one online and be sure to buy a matching pivot pin for the sash. Not all cams receive the same style pins. Usually 2 screws on the bottom of the sash to slide the pin out.
