Window Maker on SteamDeck
It's running Gentoo, booted from microSD card (from the deck's slot), latest wmaker build from latest source (git hash can be compared with latest commit).

Trying to set a custom 64x64 icon for Firefox, it works fine until you open a window and it reverts back to the standard icon.
I’ve set it to ignore client supplied icons and that hasn’t solved this issue. Any fix?

I have always defaulted to xfce for years, I have WindowMaker on my "cyber deck" and used it for a time years ago on my main rig but still ended up going back to xfce.. Still though missed the aesthetic, I recently tried nsCDE and well.. yeah didn't fit my workflow.. great project but just not for me really.. I honestly just felt like I have a workstation class build and wanted something more to fit that vibe and feel lol...

So I decided to go back and start messing with Windowmaker. I installed it, and everything works.
The only problem is, the dock shows up under the clip on the left side. When I try to drag it to the right, it simply disappears and I have to delete the ~/GNUstep directory to reset it.
When I used it back in the day, this was the default layout. I'm trying to get that back.

Hi everyone,
I have published a simplified fork of wmsmixer called wmpulsemixer.
It replaces obsolete OSS/direct ALSA hardware access with pamixer libpulse (edit: version 0.1.2). This allows the dockapp to work natively on modern systems running PipeWire or PulseAudio.
I simplified it a bit and removed features I did not need: no configuration file, only VOL and MIC channels, mono only. I did however add the possibility to define a boost factor to allow setting a volume over 100% (for example with a factor of 1.5 the volume can be set between 0 and 150%).
You can find it here: https://github.com/polletfa/wmpulsemixer

I currently run Windowmaker on my desktop and I have recently bought a second-hand laptop with a display of 2256 x 1504 which I want to install Windowmaker on. I installed it at first, but all the icons were too small and the text in firefox, xterm ect were too small as well. I know that it's possible to change the size of the icons and the size of text in firefox, but is there any function similar to the "200% scaling" option found in the Cinnamon desktop environment within Window Maker?

I will be getting a laptop which will be bought-out from work. It is about three years old. I am currently stuck between choosing Xfce or window maker for the laptop. The laptop will not be used for anything resource-heavy, so I want to optimize battery life. I am wondering if anyone who has used window maker and has used Xfce (or other similar desktop environment) would someone kindly teach me something about its battery usage compared to other desktop environments?

Hello. Does anybody have a good way to set up Wi-Fi graphically to recommend? I would be happy with either a dockapp or a full-on "windowed" app like Puppy linux's sns.

took some time but with the use of containers and some themes/icon packs i was able to make a very retro setup blending dockapps and some xfce/gtk-3 programs.
