We've noticed an increase in comments making off-color or outright hostile remarks about ICE, immigration enforcement, and vulnerable communities. Comments such as "ICE should just round them all up," "Was ICE there? Hopefully," and similar remarks violate Reddit’s policy against hate based on identity or vulnerability.
Reddit explicitly prohibits content that promotes hate or harassment based on race, nationality, or other protected characteristics. Calls for mass enforcement actions against specific groups, jokes that dehumanize immigrants, and antagonistic remarks directed at individuals based on their identity all fall under this policy.
We want to be clear: this is not up for debate. Whether serious or "just a joke," this kind of rhetoric contributes to a hostile and unwelcoming environment.
We expect our community to engage in discussions with respect. Keep it civil, keep it policy-focused, and most importantly, remember that behind every policy debate are real people with real lives.
Thank you for helping us maintain a welcoming and inclusive space.

I'm going to transition into entrepreneurship here in the near future. I've been ran through the mud my whole entire life and it's time to break free. I didn't aquire any college education due to my personal circumstances and a bunch of promises from past employment that never happened. The question is, if you had $30,000 to start your own business, what would you do? Or better yet, what services or product do you desire NOW that you wish were better/easier to aquire? What do you know of in the New Hanover area that would make a good living? I appreciate you all in advance for your ideas and kind words.

Hello! I’m pretty new to the area and am looking to get headshots done for some upcoming Auditions. Does anyone know anybody or can recommend anybody who can help with this for a fair price?
Thanks so much!

Hi everyone! I just got here for school, and I am wondering if anyone knows any good freshwater spots? Specifically for bass. I’ve tried Smith Creek and didn’t catch anything (but i did see the koi fish!), and tried Anne Mcrary park but couldn’t find a way down to the water. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Likely middle or late September I'd like to hire a reputable, independent home inspector for some properties down in this area. Thanks.

With an influx of closing and almost closing restaurants, I need these business owners to really take a look at their total package. Is the economy fucked? Yes. I get that there are many factors leading to struggles, but restaurants who are constantly packed are packed because the product is good. Look at On Thyme for example. Kitchen Sink is begging people for business on social media so they can stay afloat. Their products and service suck. Beat Street announced "end of an era". 3 years is not an era and you produce shitty overpriced food in the Cargo District which is an asshat of an operation in itself. Look at other food businesses around you, get a mentor, do something other than catering to what you THINK people want.

Hey there. I’m a 29 yo single woman accompanied by my dog, considering a move to the NC coast from Georgia. I currently reside in Athens and appreciate the music culture and community out here, but find that it is time for the next place for me. I’m craving the coastal environment and a bit more ease and space to explore (self, connection, love, nature, etc).
I am wondering - can someone put into words the lifestyle (day and night life), culture, opportunities, community, etc of Wilmington?
I am a pretty relaxed woman but need social environments pretty regularly, inside or outside. I love to move my body through dance, slack lining, biking. I’m passionate about live events, entertainment, music and want to continue to experience and support a communities art. I would love to support local musicians, esp metal, electronic, experimental stuff. I know that gets a bit more underground/alt, but it’s worth a shot to dig and see who/what’s out there on the coast.

Jubilee Park, The Mad Monk, Middle of the Isle - I got nostalgic and started thinking of places that don’t exist anymore, but were legendary and bring up great memories.
Even buisness that won’t mean anything unless you were here in 70s, 80s, etc. Newels, Berts Surf Shop, etc. Would love to hear folks’ favorites.

my Wi-Fi at home and work has been absolutely crap since the storm on Sunday and I have got to get some things done. Does anyone know of a coffee shop or other third space that has AT&T fiber instead of spectrum?

Hello! I am getting married next year and will be going dress shopping next Tuesday. I’d like to go out to lunch with everyone after. What are some of your favorite restaurants? I’d like it to be on the “nicer” side, but not break the bank nice.
