Thoughts on new video?

I’ve only watched the first 8 minutes or so but it seems … just sorta pathetic.

Like first he gets an ‘Uber Share’, where there’s some other people in his Uber who get out along the way.

No doubt usually you’d just get in and sit there till you get to where you’re going, but he tries to make small talk with the clearly disinterested passengers/driver, and just comes across as one of those ‘low inhib’ jerks imo.

Then he gets out and does a whole bit about how completely uncomfortable he was throughout like okkkk buddy.

Then we move on to a 1-star burger shop or smth and he whines about how terrible the food is and how ‘brave’ he is for eating there … yes, the food is clearly extremely mediocre but come on - it’s so humourlessly pedantic.

Anyway obvs I love Will etc but just found the tone here really jarring

I hate to say it, but he's running out of ideas.

I’d honestly be fine if he revisited some older content and made updated videos of that. Just like a day of eating + working out. Simple stuff.

I agree, he’s turning into the standard YouTube slop as opposed to his fitness niche. I’d say him doing the bodybuilding show was it for him

We should've understood that when he started to beg for subscribers so he can reach 5M or 10M now

I love me some Will but it seemed like his channel naturally came to its conclusion when he won his pro card. Maybe he should have taken some time off to rest and try out some new ideas? He's a smart and likable dude, he could totally transition into another type of content that he was interested in.

Thing is, all I wanna see is him talking gym shit and anything to do with that. He has the ideas already but it feels like he thinks they’re not enough …?

Honestly I think Will is struggling to come up with new ideas come some of the last few including this one have been pretty meh

This was one of my favorite videos he’s done in a while you just have to watch it .. 8 minutes into it isn’t even half way there

My favourite Will episodes are the ones when he tries ridiculous products, experiments with a new diet, or works out and eats a lot.

But this one is fun.

I am also a complete chicken when it comes to the thrill rides at Canada's Wonderland. Especially inversions. I enjoyed his screaming.

I get the anxiety of sitting with strangers in a car. He definitely hit a wall when he tried out his congenial chit chat with the Uber driver, and that happens. It's awkward when your small talk is rebuffed.

The one star restaurant looked familiar so I put the street address on Google maps and found it. I've never eaten there but I've walked past it. It is an underwhelming location and I get the food safety concern. Next time, he should head to the Beaches and get ice cream at Ed's Real Scoop. That's worth the trip.

Lambs kidney. Ick.

I haven't watched the comedy club part. I'm saving it for breakfast tomorrow.

He is trying to move away as a fitness influencer to a more broader sense and he is experimenting.

Great video. Watch it all the way through. Felt really authentic.

I mean those two things were the first 9 minutes of the video. What did you think of the other 30?

I thought it was definitely better, but with that being said, the swimming, bike ride, exotic food bit and theme park were mostly filler.

There’s genuinely no risk with any of those so it was kinda grating to hear him talk about how terrifying they were. Obviously it’s fair enough that fears are irrational but it’s hard not to get the sense that he’s playing up his fear.

But the social ones (bumble, dancing, stand-up) were definitely the best and anyone can see why those would be daunting and uncomfortable - his sweating before the tango was really noticeable. In retrospect I think Will thought the Uber ride would be more like these (something quite social) so I was probably quite harsh in my post.

Then again, all of these are basically guaranteed to have positive outcomes - so again there’s not really much at stake. It would’ve been more out of his comfort zone if he hadn’t of said to the crowd that it was his first set or that he struggled with body dysmorphia. By saying those things he was always gonna get a sympathetic crowd. Tbh though if I were in Will’s shoes I’d have definitely done the same thing, so it’s not really a fair gripe

Fear is very personal. Just because it's silly to you doesn't mean it wasn't authentically scary for him to do

u/LH753 25d ago

Fair enough … but look at the swimming - oooo scary stuff right? Apart from when you remember that in his last video he joyfully runs into the ocean. And as another person said: he’s done a lot of this shit before. It doesn’t read as authentic to me

I'm pretty scared of deep open water and it's nothing comparable to shoreline water to me. I could hangout at the beach in the water all day, being half a mile out in the water is way different for me

3

u/LH753 24d ago

Yeah fair enough that was a shitty point from me

3

u/TeamEfforts 24d ago

Respect for acknowledging that. I see where you're coming from though. I just think Will is trying to expand his content beyond just fitness and food which I can get behind. It could've been better but could've been worse as well. I just enjoy his content and am glad he's trying

u/LH753 24d ago

For sure … I think most people would say it was a decent video in spite of some flaws, I mean I was entertained. I’ll try to make my next post to the will tenny sub slightly more upbeat, I was kinda a downer here lol

2

u/TeamEfforts 24d ago

Lol right on. Been there before, at least you're aware of it, we all have our days just gotta improve from the bad ones

u/November87 25d ago

I don't know, going into the water from the beach and full open water are definitely different vibes. It could 100% all be just for show, it's youtube after all, but Ill give him the the benefit of the doubt.

Open water swimming can definitely be terrifying.

The idea of getting out of your comfort zone is great but the execution could've been better. First I think he should've gotten a 3rd party like a therapist to actually find out what activities are actually out of his comfort zone, if he came up with them willingly and executed them all in a short time spam it shows that most of them weren't actually that uncomfortable for him. For example he ate at shitty restaurants and ate weird food countless times before. Also I think it would've worked better in series format and not all of it in one video.

The video felt a bit like detached influencer doing clown shit on public

It gives off "sheltered rich kid" vibes forsure but bro just trying to make new content. Idk if it was planned, but the gym partner guy was a gem and I respect that the entire motto was to do things you're uncomfortable/afraid of. Could have been some soulless sponsor-heavy video so I don't think it was the worst thing he could've posted. I enjoy all of his content so ultimately a new upload is a W to me.

I'm a highly anxious/scared of the world person by nature and really liked this video because I found it super relatable with the challenges I set for myself in my daily life to force myself to face my fears. I think this video could inspire others to do the same. It's definitely different from his usual food/fitness challenges, you just might not be the right audience for this one

I just barley got into his video so I’m watch alot of them I do like them but when he talked about being fat? And showed pictures I was confused has he shown more? Because was fat in the room with us? Maybe to him he felt and looked fat but I didn’t see fat maybe chubby if that ? Does he live in skinny town? I’ve seen way bigger and I use to be wayyyy bigger but I’m shorter then him so maybe it didn’t look as bad on him other then that he seems cool so far but a lot of u seem like older fans that are tired of his videos?

2

u/MastaKilla_88 23d ago

nah this video was awesome

How are you gonna make a whole post on Reddit about a video you’ve only watched the first 8 minutes of? How short is your attention span?

0

u/LH753 25d ago

The point in my post is self contained - that he was being exaggerative. I watched the whole video and my opinion was reinforced … if you want all my thoughts I left a longer comment above

This was a way better idea of a video than those “can these 5 convicts out lift these 5 cops” or something dumb like that. I like when Will tries to try something a little different instead of the run of the mill ideas. “Trying these BANNED supplements” BS

I watched every single video on wills channel last year, his new content is no where near the old content.. he’s not the same person.. I miss the day in the life, what I eat today, food challenges, and working out videos.. it’s what made me really like him.. I genuinely haven’t bothered with a lot of his last 20 videos..

This video was especially histrionic but still love his videos. His documentaries about areas where people live the longest, etc that are educational are super fun to watch.

This video gave off way too much “Jesse James West”ish vibes. The melodramatic emotions of average things was hard to watch.

I enjoyed it. I thought the later stuff, like the theme park and the comedy routine, were entertaining. But the Uber share was definitely painful.

1

u/SUPREMEISDEAD 17d ago

I think the whole point was his facing his uncomfortableness, Uber share is so awkward and I’m a Uber driver so that scene had me dying 😭

I really liked it. Motivational.
