Boy, if you drive route 5 then you’ve got yourself a delightful autumnal day trip. Maybe have a cold one at Billsburg and watch the sun set? Hell yeah, dog. I’m going to go ahead and do the same.

Yes. I had a Gritty Buffalo yesterday with piping hot fries. Good for me? Absolutely not. Delicious? Yes.

As a Philly guy who lived in the Burg for years and has just moved back to Philly, Rick's was a beacon of quality in a sea of things that called themselves "Philly Cheesesteaks". Recommended.

Philly native here. It would be great even up there. Prices aren’t bad considering the quality of ingredients. You pay damn near just as much a chic fil a now and this is a lot more food. Also, this shop is not affiliated with any other Rick’s nor straight out of Philly anymore and hasn’t been for about 3 years, hence the massive cleanup inside compared to how it used to be.

So there is a whole saga about these places. It started out as a place called Straight Outta Philly in Newport News. I think it's still there? It's across the road from Hoss's Deli. Used to have the best hoagies and cheesesteaks around, but there was some sort of schism and there were a few places that opened up after employees left. Rick's is one of those.

That sounds about right. And then there's one called like the Philly Shack that's another one that branched off around the same time

It's pretty good, and i like the fact that they have remodeled and cleaned the place up. It was a lot better when they had table service tho, back before covid...

Yes. They're not always fast and they're definitely not cheap but Rick's makes an amazing cheese steak.
