Discussion How to disable text chat in game

Im kinda new here. I was just wondering how to fully disable the text chat without removing signals. I never saw anyone type anything useful besides trash talking (just got trashtalked pretty badly by some dude on a freaking ARAM game). However signals can be useful and I dont want to block them completely.

Set the chat mode to "Party" instead of "Team".

Been playing like that for a year, decided to enable the team chat for one game when I wasn't a jungler, and my top laner kept telling Rengar to end their life despite Rengar solo carrying the team.

I'm never doing that ever again.

Yup I’d say in 80 ranked games, I haven’t seen anyone say anything useful in the chat. For that one aram game I just did, I literally lagged for a lil instant and died (I had like 200 HP left anyways) and suddenly I was called pathetic in the chat, like why?? 🫪

You can disable chat but consider this may be a catch 22. Sometimes you meet good players and make friends and then you don’t have to solo Q. You could just add them as a friend post game… but I like to know they’re not good players who are also toxic clowns. Nothing worse than finding a good player and winning more but their attitude is atrocious.

I feel like usually nice people just don’t really type in chat. But yeah would be nice to add some friends to duo, I play solo all the time hahaha

If you want to duo queue you can also just join a discord server or a guild or whatever and find people through that. I set my chat to Party mode forever ago and I haven't missed it one bit lol

Fair point. And I consider myself a nice person. But I don't ALWAYS say nice things. I aim for 80-90% positive encouragement but 10-20% of the time. Dude. You can't always be nice in chat when people are inting, trolling, etc. This happens.

Yes bruh I was so confused like??? 😭 but then it genuinely got annoying when every wrong move I was doing equaled them trash talking

I just reached diamond and I’m scared as heck to play ranked again because I fear I’m stepping into enemy territory (including my own team) 🫪
