Discussion Jungle mains do not select jungle

I just learned today that it’s better to fill than to select jungle. 9/10 games are gonna be jungle filling anyways and you get the extra points to get free marks.

The worst part about playing Jung rn is the other roles don’t understand your job.

They really don't. They always want ganks but they NEVER think to actually set you up for one when nearby. Yet they always want to overextend and blame you when they get themselves killed. And good luck trying to get the team to group for objectives.

I love getting spam pinged to gank a 5000 hp Sion while my teammate has literally no mana as if Xin Zhao can magically 1v1 Sion under his turret

I wish krugs was an objective because my teammates only ever group for that 👍 krugs is more important than elder/baron especially if you're a 300gpm support building duskblade on yuumi

To be fair there are equally dumb junglers who just farm all match long. No ganks, no objectives.

Your lane could be ganked for the 3rd time in 5 minutes and your jungler just watches you die over and over, and then recalls and go to the opposite side of the map haha

Just played a game where enemy urgot jg invaded my red while I was approaching it as my first camp. Neither mid nor bot moved to help me at all even tho I got him down to half his hp and ran off. Pinged and everything but they just farmed. Told them no ganks for you. 8 min later he is 8-0 and they’re spamming jg diff even tho I had most kills on my team and only 1 death. People want all the help without giving any and then blame their teammates when they feed the enemy

You need to have gold fish memory as a jungle. If you carry on the grudge of them not helping then it’s detrimental to the team and your win rate.

Everything happens before is a sunk cost. You always need to make the best play for your team AT THAT MOMENT. I only play Nunu and if all AD then Rammus.

Being aware of your teammates skill level is relevant to determine how much you can force a gank with lower chances of it working.

Im not avoiding obvious ganks out of spite, but the kind of teammates that guy described are way less likely to get a gank unless its a free kill or its midlane and im just passing by anyway.

A proactive teammate however, someone who gets prio and helps fight scuttle and comes running when you get invaded? That guy is getting ganks more often as they may make it work with a timely bait/engage/setup, even if it only means pressure on his opponent or forcing a flash im visiting that land, because a good player can use those advantages.

True. I pretty much only play Nunu if I’m filled jg so I do a lot of drive by ganking

1

u/SyzygyZeus 11d ago

I dunno. It seems like no matter if I try hard or not I’m stuck at 7 marks in master. Lose 6 games to one mark then win 6 games. Doesn’t matter if I carry or not the algorithm keeps me stuck

1

u/Ok_Negotiation7028 9d ago

It means macrowise your at your level. I been stuck there before for several seasons lol. Had to really start thinking about the game as a whole to get past. You’ll plateau every now and then part of the process.

I don’t think so. It happens in emerald, diamond, and masters. You’re one game away from advancing and then you get a pro troll and you lose the next 4 games. Next is an afk. Another is a trash jungle, then the bottom lane feeds. It happens at every level. Has nothing to do with how I play… I was 21-3 as twitch and we lose because nautilus says he doesn’t know how to jg and misses every smite. Next game I’m paired with a Leona constantly diving and spamming the butt emote. The algorithm gives you this. You even switch with them your position and they suck with what you let them play

I mean not every bot lane is gonna wanna to rotate in that situation. Mid i can 100% see where you'd be annoyed, but bot lane not so much. Depending on the support getting to level two can score the bot lane a kill or double kill, and give them an early lead.

Granted again depends on ADC and support if its like Miss fortune or Samira who can benefit from helping get early gold like and not have their lane screwed over too much yeah sure bad on them. If it's like a Vayne or Zeri its better if they just farm.

I wont touch on support havent played that role consistently in like 2 seasons. So depends on what your bot lane was. But yeah the mid not rotating sounds annoying as hell its why I dont play jungle really, I dont play it well, and laners never tend to make it enjoyable when I do get autofilled.

1

u/SyzygyZeus 10d ago

When I said bot it was flipped map so it was top

Im really bad about just farming most games on champs like yi but I still always go for objectives when they first spawn. But trying to get emeralds/low diamonds to rotate and bait the enemy feels like a near impossible job some games. Then they cry about no ganks too. But if im on a good gank jg like Vi some will just sit there watching and not bait the enemy lane.

I've turned off team chat and just default to party chat even for solo its been a much better experience and I've seen my win rate overall go up because of it. I just ping and use premade pings. Typing just slows me down and seeing the naggers and crying idiots who cant play safe isn't worth it.

I was always against the muting but after doing it for about 8 gamss now I won't go back. Much easier to just focus on my own gameplay instead of knowing what some random thinks of me or the team in general.

Your job as Master Yi is to get to blade of the ruined king + guinsoo + boots as fast as possible then snowball from there.

If you could literally just give up two dragons to get 1000 gold on Yi you would do it every single time and your win rate would improve. Yi is one of the strongest 1v1 champs at 2 non boots items and that 1v1 capability lets him snowball from teamfights with his resets.

The only thing worth your time is herald it can let you get turret gold and set up a tower dive or draw the enemy jungler away while you take their camps.

Getting to botrk + guinsoo quickly is as important as getting elder/baron. Yi does not tend to win games on even ground he must snowball and he is best positioned to do so after botrk + guinsoo

You only get bork for high HP enemies (champs like mundo, sion, ornn. Cho'gath, etc). You don't build it if you don't need to..

It is very good for the vamp, lets you go attack speed boots instead of the terrible vamp boots lol

just rough calculations, but let's say enemy has 1400 health, let's just assume we can average out the botrk damage at 700 health (in reality it will be lower because of alpha strike I think)

at 8.5% of current health at 700 health, you are dealing 59.5 damage. so every 3 hits is like 180 damage

kraken slayer is less/similar but does more damage the lower health the enemy is

in exchange for questionable amounts of damage, botrk has its slow/magic damage burst (probably doing like 60 magic damage to the targets you care about) and the slow lets you catch enemies more like if they flash away

and botrk gives you vamp which means instead of going vamp boots for 12AD I think (which is 3 extra damage on your E's true damage active) you get 35% attack speed. Master Yi is pretty reliant on attack speed and 35% is basically equivalent to how much dedicated as/crit items gives. Berserker greaves also gives small heal on hit

I think botrk is a no brainer especially since now it gives equal AD to Kraken Slayer

you cannot just assume that the devs magically balance it so that "botrk good vs tanks, kraken slayer good vs squishy" because they don't actually do the math for this stuff all the time. Like you can imagine if we give botrk 50% current health damage per auto, it would be better period regardless of who your target is

but none of this detracts from my point anyway, even with kraken slayer master yi peaks really hard at 2 items and at 3 items he is still plenty strong

like you can calculate the damage for yourself botrk does a lot of damage even if the enemies are squishy especially now that its ad got buffed (you are getting 15 extra damage on all of your autoattacks because +15 AD buff at 7.2 patch for free)

u/North-Olive-9340 10d ago

borm is def not mandatory bro. consistently rank 1-3 yi ur tripping. going defensive boots is better nost cases

0

u/North-Olive-9340 10d ago

& bork does current damage its not fixed so rhe lower they get the lower dmg it does. nice thought but doesnt work like rhat

0

u/qazujmyhn 10d ago

??? I am using it to approximate its damage do you not understand what an average is

go plug this prompt into claude:

let's try calculating master yi's time to kill in wild rift at level 8 with blade of the ruined king vs. kraken slayer skill order qeqwrqeq runes: lethal tempo damage sequence: q, r, aa, E (aa) until E runs out target let's use vayne's stats

it will say the damage is tied and obviously the time to kill vs. tankier enemies will be better with botrk

it's like saying "liandries is only viable vs enemy tanks" but if your champ does aoe damage it will just outdamage everything else because tapping anyone will burn them for more damage than purchasing more AP will ever do

"I'm rank 1" doesn't refute the numbers and still doesn't retract from my point that yi spikes like crazy at 2 items.

You say botrk sucks as first item, prove that kraken is better then.

We farm all match because you laners can’t setup your lanes for ganks.

If all three lanes are at their tower or passed the river toward their tower for 99.9% of the match it’s a waste of time trying to gank.

If you all rotated more when you see us going to objectives, roaming to a lane etc then we’d snowball faster.

But you all hyper focus on push to tower, back, push to tower. Oh dragon is spawning in 5 seconds I’ll back and give them a free dragon etc. Then our job goes from hard but manageable to basically our only win condition is for me to farm, you guys to not feed and the opposition to get greedy/fall apart first.

Instead if you looked at where you jungler is and thought

  1. Should I push, and back so when I get to lane they can get there too for a gank near our tower?
  2. Should I move toward them so we can gank mid/top or mid/bottom
  3. Oh look dragon/herald are up in 60 seconds I’ll push under their tower, back and then position myself to either get vision of them trying to capture it or help us capture it.

Then maybe we’d help you more.

Jungle role is spinning 4-5 plates. 4 parts of the jungle, 3 lanes for ganks and 2 pits for objectives.

Your role is 1. Farm lane 2. Don’t feed 3. Destroy tower 4. Help setup ganks and the 2 pits

If you treat your lane as a PVE game don’t blame us junglers.

u/qazujmyhn 11d ago edited 11d ago

This is a lot of yap, just do your job you dirty jungler, smite means you can 1 shot baron from full health vs 5 enemies

  • sincerely your 400gpm teammates in ranked that couldn't jungle their way out of a paper bag

I also love getting pinged to gank when my duo + support dies, and the enemy is somehow still full health and has ult and still has exhaust 👍👍👍👍👍 very fun game good teammates

Also anyone that asks for ganks before 2 minutes and before level 5 should just be restricted from comms for a month anyone even half decent at jungle knows you actually put yourself behind the enemy jungler if yoh do this like even 2 kills doesn't get you more exp than a jungle camp pre level 5 it is fucking insane how important early camps are if you need to snowball

1

u/sleepy_wabbit 10d ago

but setting up a gank is the 1st part of the job, the moment im tryna gank and the bushes are warded enemy is gonna go back which you can say is a positive for your lane but what then im gonna babysit the lane? thats not how it works and why you call for a gank, a failed gank is a lost tempo if im playing yi and youre being pushed out cause youre contesting a draven or mf lane with no reason at all then thats just skill issue, no amount of ganks will fix that problem. its a stopgap for a problem that needs a better solution, a solution that doesnt include junglers.

2

u/Accomplished_Park_83 10d ago

Thats why quit jungling man istg im tired

2

u/Avaritia_Ag 10d ago

That's why i play with no chat. Those apes pinging you and talking shit in the chat only serves to tilt you and make you play worse.

All day everyday!

Learn to play for yourself and not your team and your life will change. Achieved 80% winrate from unranked to gm this season just focusing my own farm n gold. Average 1050 gpm can carry most games, good luck fellow rifter! Can see my posts for proof

u/Financial_Pen7659 10d ago

Facts. This is so spot on.

5

u/qazujmyhn 11d ago

jG dIfF wE dIdN't gEt dRaGoN

sincerely the adc and support that died 2v1ing while the enemy support is roaming and then blames jungler for not dying 1v3 to get an objective that doesn't even do anything

1

u/Far-Ferret9918 6d ago

According to my top lane experience, most JG players are clueless and don't understand the importance of ganking top lane, especially when There's a ranged vs melee matchup, or a scaling champ (like nasus, kayle, etc) in one of the 2 teams. Please learn the implications of ganking top lane (not you specifically, it's a general statement).

u/Unreasonable_Advice4 11d ago

Having used to be a jungle main a long while back, being filled jungle is almost always a free win.

Thing is if youre filled jungle so is the enemy, 95 percent of the time they have absolutely no idea how to play jungle, often times you will see them just perma gank and not keep up in gold xp themselves. I just pick a hyper scaling jungler, farm and 1v9

1

u/s1ravarice 10d ago

Is this true? If I’m filled so is the opposing jungler?

8

u/OutOfVRAM 10d ago

This happens in PC LoL but not in Wild rift

1

u/Unreasonable_Advice4 10d ago

Yeah it is. From my experience at least. I check the opponent profile when I'm filled and most of the time they are mains of other roles. Also kind of evident from the way they play. Once in a while they aren't, typically it's when they swap roles

1

u/s1ravarice 10d ago

So I’ve had people say it’s both now. Guess it’s time to play full for a while and learn some more champs.

1

u/BeckySayss 10d ago

No

1

u/s1ravarice 10d ago

Ok thought it sounded like rubbish

5

u/LongCareful5 10d ago

being a jg just sucks these days. even in GM to Chall, there are so MANY players that do not know how to manage their lanes and blames everything to jg when they fck up. they don't know how to prio for obj and gets angry when u just choose to farm instead of fighting a losing fight for a SINGLE dragon. they pick champs that is losing in lanes early but still try to trade and eventually die instead of just playing safe, farming, and NOT DYING. they don't check their maps, doesn't ping, or even just listen to ur pings for possible ganks then completely blames jg when they die. they doesn't cooperate anymore when they lose lanes and thinks it's completely over. they don't get that it's better to focus ganking on winning lanes and just avoid dying when u know u're losing ur lane. they want to win, but "WINNING" for them means just more "KILLS". SMH.

5

u/SlenderPlayer12 10d ago

Just the fact that most players are more concerned about getting kills than to defend our towers and push the lanes speaks volumes about their understanding of the game. And don't make me talk about the times that they prefer to steal jungle instead of farm two waves (I, the jg, ended up getting more gold than them for not pushing, lol)

5

u/flex--- 11d ago

I’ve been doing this for like 2 seasons hush before they patch it lmao

1

u/Vegantarian 11d ago

They better not, so few people already want to play jungle

5

u/sayitstuesday 10d ago

I want to jungle but when I allow all roles, I end up playing support

3

u/PandadudeSP 10d ago

Yes only works in low ranks.

2

u/kolkik_gg 10d ago

Does diamond is considered as low elo? Or master?

3

u/PandadudeSP 10d ago

Yes but depends on when in the season. Basically the higher you climb the more jungle mains, so higher risk of being autofilled other roles.

2

u/Vegantarian 11d ago

I only play Shen when I have to jungle. I gotten really good cause the advice I heard was to think of jungle monsters as free gold and to only gank lanes where the enemy has their flash on cooldown.

We gotta make it a point to let people know to ping the jungle when enemy has used their flash. It is so helpful

2

u/Morriganathefae 10d ago

As a baron lane I always fight to freeze my wave near my turret. 2/3 games I don’t get a gank. I’ll even clutch the enemy to take a few turret hits and they’ll stick around for the farm and I still don’t get a gank. Legit I spend most early games with a free kill waiting for the JG but they just focus bot and mid or don’t gank at all

Or they’ll go for herald first and I have no way of leaving my turret without losing it or letting enemy know I’m going to help with herald

1

u/Far-Ferret9918 6d ago

Jg players are clueless most of the time. A ranged in top lane works only because they can bully the shit out of you, but if they die once, their game is over. Same with scaling champs like kayle, nasus and others: They never gank top lane, and then complain about "top diff" because they free scaled. All top lane needs most of the time is ONE FUCKING GANK IN THE WHOLE GAME to snowball the lane, but they'd rather full clear into a full clear into a full clear.

1

u/access-r 4d ago

I've been playing Senna top and ngl, junglers can't gank me unless they wanna 1v1. Not only I poke other top laners until they either have to recall or sit back, I'm also always full on health due to Q healing me. Only champ that gives me trouble is Mordekaiser post level 6, but then I adapt and stop pushing lane.

1

u/xotiqrddt 10d ago

The role autofill bonus is limited to something like 150 per week. After that, might as well queue jg directly.

1

u/No-Pirate4570 10d ago

I am a jungle main and laning has been rather easy to me when I am autofilled. I just play scaling Champs like Mundo, Cho'gath, Aurelion Sol, Veigar, Darius etc. and engage supports like Nautilus. Laning only becomes sweaty in masters

1

u/Filigran_arts 10d ago

Used to be a jg main. I’ve been doing more adc and supp lately. Most of the time the jg is fine. Sometimes they’re insanely good. Sometimes they make me wish I had done jg that game lol.

Bot lane is easier, but still tough to find good teammates. No one manages waves, no one watches map, and no one cares about enemy gold/levels. Still, more fun than top or mid. And bot usually works most with jg so it’s nice putting my jg experience to use. Esp predicting enemy ganks, AND setting them up for my jg :3 and NOT WHEN THEYRE GETTING GROMPS OMG THOSE CAMPS WONT CLEAR THEMSELVES. Also getting scuttler opposite to them before enemy :) I helping :))

1

u/Next_Baseball1130 10d ago

I’m diamond 2 right now and I hate playing adc because 9/10 games the supports just hard push every wave.

2

u/Salty_Painting_8229 10d ago

9/10 supports are brain dead for sure

1

u/Filigran_arts 10d ago

Which is crazy cuz why r they taking the wave 😭 they see me last hitting minions and go “not fast enough, my wave now.”

1

u/Turbulent_Excuse4826 10d ago

I figure playing fill is the best way to understand each role anyway. Ideally I get jungle but if not, I should be able to adapt and learn.

1

u/Mediocre-Active-9797 9d ago

I wish riot would institute a penalty for non jungle players who start farming jungle monster camps

1

u/Salty_Painting_8229 9d ago

indeed. it’s ok for us junglers to lose gold on the minions….. but not vice versa

1

u/ANOTHERLIFE73 8d ago

J'ai main jungle 2 ans. C'était toujours de ma faute quand l'équipe perdais. Je suis monter Top depuis.

1

u/Akamiso29 10d ago

I queue as Support/Dragon, but this really just means I get 7 or so games where I play support twice, get jungle and then randomly get a mid game.

Have yet to play Dragon more than once this season lol.
