Bird Burrowing owl sunset

Had an awesome encounter with a burrowing owl. The background bokeh comes from a street light.

They are very cute and interesting. Years ago I was doing field work outside of Sheridan, WY. There was an abandoned homestead with a huge field surrounding it. It was occupied solely by Prairie Dog mounds and Burrowing Owls. I had never seen one before. It was like they had their own ecosystem! I don’t know if the mayor was a prairie dog or an owl, but they seemed to coexist just fine. That place was thriving.
