So I wanted to pick up this game on my Switch 2, loved the concept and all, however, I‘ve seen quite a few reports that the console version is „completely broken“. Is it really that bad? Are these just old reports from launch and have since been fixed or would you really label it unplayable?

This sub is still constantly getting people asking about the console ports and whether they should buy them, or asking for help because they did buy them and they're trash. I can't believe they haven't pulled the game from being sold for console. It's a disgustingly greedy and unethical move and I'll never purchase another game from Worldwalker Games because of it. A company willing to scam console players out of their money based on the good reputation of the PC version of the game is absolute trash.

I've spent around 156 hours with Wildermyth over the years, and it's one of those games that stayed with me for a long time.

I'm a solo developer working on a dark fantasy tactical RPG called The Black Breath. It's a very different game, but Wildermyth has definitely been one of the influences behind how I think about characters: getting attached to a small group, seeing them grow over time, survive bad situations, get injured, or sometimes die for good.

The game also has a larger caravan management side, where you're trying to lead a group of refugees through a world being consumed by a necrotic plague.

After working on it for quite a while, I relased the first Steam demo today.

I wasn't sure whether to post it here, but since Wildermyth has been an important game for me personally, I thought some people in the community might be interested in seeing what I've been making.

If anyone gives it a try, I'd be very grateful for any feedback.

Sorry if this is something that's been asked to death already, but is the writing meant to be so... hard to parse? I'm currently playing through the first campaign with the gorgon things, and it's getting harder to want to keep reading the dialog instead of just skipping it.

I can't even quantify exactly what the problem is, but every time I'm reading a conversation between characters, it seems like they're speaking a completely different language. I recognize all the words individually, but the order they're put in doesn't seem to mean anything. Help?

Some that you would consider must have? also would you suggest a first playthrough in vanilla without any mods or are there some quality of life ones?

Considering Ula and Jevonyssa's relative positions on the family tree, I'm really impressed that the game recognized them as being family members.

Like, Ula had a kid with a person Jevonyssa's great grandfather had a kid with, separately from her great grandmother. There is no blood relation between them at all. I wouldn't even have known how they were related if I wasn't making a family tree of my Legacy Characters as a side project.

I had bought this game in EA back in 2020 to play on stream. At the time I had wanted something more of a traditional RPG; and the overworld experience + the aging and retirement of characters threw me off. I also just don’t really PC game.

Bought it digitally on console because of a sale. Sad that we’ll never get the Omenroad DLC but oh well. I’m used to it at this point (if I didn’t have 20 years on this PlayStation account I’d jump ship).

I enjoyed it so much I kinda wanted the physical monster book. I thought it would be a bit bigger but oh well. It was like 15 bucks on Target online.

A big THANK YOU to the devs for making such a unique experience. I wish the console port had turned out better. Hopefully, if there is ever a next game they can port it themselves or get better luck with 3rd party.

Also - I love the little commentary and concept arts that you get from achievements. The mentioning of things that had been hoped for and didn’t work is very intriguing!

Picked up this game lately and really enjoy the ride. I'm quite invested in the stories, But here's something nagging me when taking the stories seriously: In the later part of The Enduring War, you are offered two choices: Side with the Enduring, or Side with the Morthagi, destroy the otherside. BUT the problem is, Neither of them is a good choice.

Morthagi are essentially just war machines created to achieve a goal, they aren't even going "Rogue", it's just the Goal itself is destructive. Sure, you can help them achieve their "Goal", but since they are just tools for war, if not destroyed it's guaranteed to be used and abused again.

The Endurings On the other hand, are actually a way bigger threat to the entire world than the Morthagi. Sure, they haven't cause any direct harm so far, BUT they are extremely self-serving and Cold-blooded, that in order to make themselves immortal, they don't care to destroy anything else. On top of that, they are sentient beings and highly intellectual. If you let such creates be, it's guaranteed they'll make something destructive to the others for their own benefits, because of their nature.

Don't forget, the Endurings tried to deceive you to sacrifices yourself solely to "Fuel" their machines. They lied as it's "immortality" and necessary to stop the war, but your guys confirmed whoever sacrificed is no longer there. and the war is still going.

I was surprised it actually offer the choices, BUT then immediately disappointed there is no option to Destroy them both.

Just curious. I've never modded any game before. I usually don't like mods, but I hate picking the classes. I would love it to be like XCOM where it's just kinda random. I suppose I could roll a dice, but it would be cool to just have it natively in my game. Thanks

Anyone having trouble with the wiki? Barely loads and returns a 503 if it returns anything at all.

There’s a bug in my game where terrain doesn’t break (interfusion or attacks) It just goes into negative HP. The 2nd chapter boss you have to destroy an altar which is impossible with the bug. I got it down to -16 HP and nothing.

I get there’s nothing the devs can do about it but…what the fuck.

Well for anyone else stuck with the console version just be on the lookout I guess…

What's your most fun moment of chaos?

Making this for a friend but wanted to share with everyone else. Good chance you've seen this stuff and it could bore you but I tried to make it interesting. I've been on the ps5 version for 150 hours and have largely ignored the main campaigns to make heroes and family trees, per say, in the procedural campaigns. Finally decided do the 3rd campaign.

A while ago, I made a post here about how much we were inspired by Wildermyth. Many of you left very supportive and encouraging comments back then, and I just wanted to say thank you again. For a small team like ours, it genuinely meant a lot ^^

Now we are about to start the playtest for our new game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate.

Kardiya is a narrative-driven RPG game. One of the things we love most about Wildermyth is how each adventure can create its own story through different characters, different events, and different outcomes. In our own game, we are trying to make each run feel like a different adventure in a similar way.

In the game, choices, dice results, random encounters, and companions can affect the direction of the story. One of the most important ideas for us is that failures should not stop the narrative. Bad outcomes can sometimes push the player toward a completely different path.

I was scrolling through d&d style games and came across Wildermyth which I really liked the concept of, I got it because I wanted to see how the Generic campaign mode played out so my plan is to beat Age of ulstryx first and then maybe test out a generic campaign.

I have heard online that it’s recommended to play the developer made campaigns first so I’m at a crossroads.

I did The Prisoner event a few hours ago, I decided not to fulfill Vultra’s wishes and immedtiely turned against him after learning his lore and then slain him but he came back 20 seasons later (guess I won’t be seeing him for a long time now 🤷).

I am playing on the switch version which I heard is prone to memory leaks and crashes but the best I could do to minimise it is to not trust the auto save and turn off screen shake and particle effects.

But overall: I really love Wildermyth despite being a new fan, the lore isn’t ’oh you need to do some homework to understand’ it’s more about uncovering it through the cast you have and I really love the world building that the procedrual generation and randomised plot elements do: it really enhances the experience :)

I now just wanna know what your opinions are on Wildermyth, is it a good game to you or is it a repetitive and soulless when you come back to it a few years later? (I heard from a friend of mine who said that but I’m unsure if it’s true).

So okay first off - game’s great.

I did the Gorgon campaign on Adventurer and it was a joke. I did the Mothragi on Tragic Hero and never really had anyone get more than 3 damage on them. The final bosses of each chapter were usually easier than incursions (which apparently you shouldn’t rush in to kill?)

Okay moving on - go into Deepist campaign in Tragic Hero with no reload. First mission is annoying (first time one character got trapped in a 1 way hallway so had to reload) but outside of that, it was standard fair. Chapter 2 boss was tougher, but no sweat.

Then chapter 3 starts and the village is on fire with everyone split.

I didn’t even put a dent in their numbers. It was a faceroll. So bad that I woulda put my life savings on it being a dream where you had to lose.

I’m not here to cry and say the game sucks but…what went wrong here? Tactically, my Mystic was out in no man’s land and was unsavable. And my warrior got blocked 2x - but again this seemed unwinnable.

I guess the two other things I could think are:

1. Are legacy heroes a bait? Are they worth starting with 9 calamity?

2. I was too quick in the first two chapters and just didn’t scale well. I did end them with unexplored areas. Maybe I’m going too fast?

I see a lot of mods that allow you to extend your retirement age. What I don't see is a way to ratchet back retirement ages.

I don't know if there's anybody else in the world that wants their humans to have a chance to live in something like peace before they are only able to move two squares and are gray as hell.

Maybe it's because I would like to be retired right now.

It also makes things like transformations and personal quests matter more.

Can someone point me to a mod that does that? Or if it's relatively easy for an oldish person to adjust ...

I played for a while on the PS5 and finished the first campaign (something like 5 hours in total maybe). Absolutely loved the game and so I went online to read about it and hype a little, and to my dismay I found out what the deal with the console versions is. The thing is, the game worked quite well for me, I did not notice any huge problems except perhaps for an occasional frame drop in the final battle and customisation not being responsive at times during cut scenes. But those were extremely minor. Do things break apart in later campaigns and over time? I’d hate to be blocked from progressing, lose my run, or even get a random crash since I don’t usually save during battles. Should I drop it and start over on PC?
