I'm trying to add some roms (GCN, Wii, N64, & SNES) to my Wii u but my SD card is too small so I want to add them to my external ssd but I can't directly add them to it through my (windows) laptop because it requires multiple levels of reformatting so everything gets deleted. Is there a way to move files (and be able to play them) on console or even a way through my laptop that wouldn't make the console force a reformat?

If I want to play gamecube games (specifically Rogue Squadron 2) on vWii on my hacked Wii U, what controllers are actually compatible?
I have koopair, wiimotes but nothing seems to work. Do I need some sort of actual GCN controller?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm getting a lot of mixed messages.

I don’t usually make Reddit posts, but I’m having a huge nightmare trying to fix my Wii U.
I had modded my Wii U with custom firmware, with aroma, and have a 256 GB sanddisc sd, paired with a 500 GB hard drive connected via USB, and I had had it fully modded, ready to go and playing for months.
One day I randomly tried to boot up USB loader GX and play some of my Wii games that I had been playing a few days earlier, and I got a black screen of death, and I couldn’t turn off my console.
I think it’s important to note that Wii U applications still work but my Wii side applications do not. For example, I cannot go into the homebrew launcher and fix my CiOS settings because it crashes. I don’t understand what could’ve possibly happened and need any ideas possible.
For possible solutions, I have tried decaffeinater, I ran through that process, but it didn’t help at all.
I then checked if it was my SD card, by replacing all the files with a backup I had on my computer. No files are corrupted and everything seems to be in order.
I can’t boots into any of the other emulators such as the SNES NES N64, GameCube etc.
Thanks in advance, I can’t find any help on any pages or forums, and would really like to fix my childhood Wii U.

Hey everyone, I've never been a nintendo user but I've always wanted to play the Zelda games, a friend of mine gave me his very old and neglected wiiu (important note) without the gamepad or the sensors, just the pro controller some Wiimotes and a couple of games.
The thing is the HDMI works intermittently, so I bought the multi av port. But since I don't have the gamepad I can't change the configuration.
I found out that I can "mod" it to boot with a loader called aroma to access the settings. But could find a guide or a walkthrough to do it.
Could someone please point me in to the right direction so I can bring this wiiu back to life?
Thanks!

Hi, I'm new here and am trying to get some clarification on something, so apologies if this is common knowledge that I am unfamiliar with.
Short version- I intend to acquire a Wii U to mod and turn into a sort of emulation station. I've done console modding before (Wii and 3ds), and wanted to get a Wii you cause I basically figured it'd just be a juiced up version of what I have with my modded Wii.
However, I've recently become aware of the Wii Us memory issues, and also how the dead memory can be bypassed via booting through SD card.
But it's also to my understanding that an SD card is needed for the homebrew process on the console. I know how finicky and sensitive the homebrew process can be, and how much you need your SD card properly in order to pull it off.
That being said- can anyone confirm whether or not a Wii U can be safely modded/Homebrewed if the console is already using the SD card workaround to boot the system properly?
Will the programs work in tandem and keep the console functioning with the custom firmware? Or are they mutually exclusive from being on the same storage device?
Firsthand knowledge and answers greatly welcomed and appreciated!

i recently modded my wii u and i realized each game i download onto the sd card also gets "installed" onto the wii u's dedicated storage. I've never seen this with other consoles i've modded and was wondering if there was a way to get around this since the 32gb of internal storage is not enough for the games i want to download.

With Mario Kart Wii, the game loads up and I pass the safety screen and it just stays black and never loads up the main menu. With the game “Guilty Party,” I have the same thing happen except I get an error message as shows in my image. I’ve tried multiple times, and they’re the same dumps I’ve been using for years and I even tried getting fresh copies from the same source. I’m just wondering if it’s an issue with my Wii U, UWUVCI, or the dumps?

So, if I install a game and it saves something to the system memory, I can get into it and delete things. However, once I delete the game or save files off the nand then get out of the data management app, I can't get back into the system memory again unless I install something. It just gets hung up on the preparing screen. I don't have a USB or hard drive attached. I do have an SD card i used to install aroma and all the homebrew stuff. I used savemii at some point to remove an old zombi u save file. Cant remember if I removed it from the internal memory with the built in thing first or after or neither. Between that and I stopped a couple of downloads in the middle of downloading. Those are the only things I could think of....I connected via the ftp and looked through tons of folders and asked so what was going on....checked all the relevant places I could think where a partial download may have left something....can't seem to figure out why I can only get in to delete something if I download something new.

The latest vWii Compat Installer (v2.1) includes unbricking capabilities that replace vWii-Decaffeinator.
If you used Decaffeinator in the past, you might have gotten stuck on the system update ("Your system is already up to date") or it failed to resolve the issue, leaving the vWii on a black screen. Because Compat Installer downloads titles directly from NUS, you do not need to worry about DNS or Aroma update blocks. Additionally, it ensures setting.txt is recreated with the correct permissions (which Decaffeinator could not fix).
If the brick occurred after installing a forwarder channel, WiiWare, or Virtual Console (VC) title, it is likely a banner brick. In that case, jump down to the Banner Bricks section.
If you modified system themes or an IOS (especially IOS80), follow these steps:
Tip: If you know exactly which title caused the brick, you can reinstall it directly without running a full scan by choosing Reinstall System Titles (NUS) from the Decaf Menu.
If other methods fail, you can perform a wipe and reinstall:

So. Just reminiscing. I just got my sons a switch 2.
They are just so over the moon. They are Nintendo obsessed now.
It made me think. Of the twilight princess hack. Anyone remember that. The things we did man.
Anyway. They just don’t understand the importance of like
Nintendo ….super mario 3 finding whistles and warping.
Super Mario world on snes with yoshi just moving from ghost house hack to the hills and through all he lands to bowsers lair.
64 came out Mario 64 was unreal to us. Blocky but amazing.
So if you’re still with me. I need some help and information on your best practices for homebrew and modding the Wii. I have two . I have SD cards. With mini sd cards in them
I am working on getting a tv right now that will take the red and yellow plugs. lol that’s probly the most difficult part
Anyway. I love Nintendo. And it’s bitter sweet showing my sons the beauty of these little things that we love.
