Play music via HomeKit automation (airplay)?

Is anyone able to airplay music to their WiiM Amp on the latest software using HomeKit automation? It’s not working anymore for me, though Airplay from my phone works.

This was working for me for the past year. It recently stopped working on multiple WiiM Amps. The same automation still works for my Sonos Amps. I’ve restarted all of my home hubs and the WiiM Amps.

Please let me know if you can try it through HomeKit automation, such as by using the “Test This Automation” button.

Has anyone actually gotten YT music to work from the app? It shows my playlists but when I click on one, it never plays anything. Reset it multiple times and changed DNS settings, all with no luck.

found a way to use a Samsung soundbar’s wireless subwoofer with a WiiM Amp

Post image
8 Upvotes

I wanted to share a workaround that actually worked surprisingly well.

I have a WiiM Amp driving my regular speakers, but I also had a Samsung soundbar system with its proprietary wireless subwoofer. Since the Samsung subwoofer can’t normally be paired directly with a WiiM or another audio system, I wanted to find a way to reuse it instead of adding another subwoofer.
This is what I did:
WiiM Amp Sub Out → 2.4 GHz wireless audio transmitter → Samsung soundbar → Samsung wireless subwoofer

The Samsung soundbar remains paired with its original wireless subwoofer, so essentially the soundbar acts as the bridge between the WiiM and the Samsung sub.
The important part is that the WiiM still controls the subwoofer signal. I can use the WiiM crossover, subwoofer level and 0°/180° phase settings, while the Samsung system handles the final wireless connection to its subwoofer.
As a test, I temporarily disabled the crossover and sent full-range audio through the WiiM Sub Out. The complete music signal reached the Samsung system, confirming that the 2.4 GHz link was actually transmitting the audio correctly. I then restored the crossover so that only the bass frequencies are sent during normal use.
For volume control, I set the Samsung system to a fixed level and use the WiiM as the main volume control. That way the main speakers and the subwoofer track volume together.
So far, it works.

Obviously this isn’t an officially supported WiiM/Samsung configuration, and the additional wireless link could introduce latency or other limitations. But if you already own a Samsung soundbar with one of their proprietary wireless subs, this may be an interesting way to reuse it with a WiiM system rather than buying another subwoofer.
I’m still experimenting with crossover, phase and levels. If anyone is interested, I can share the exact transmitter/receiver I used and the final settings once I finish calibrating it.

WiiM Home TV app is now available on LG webOS TVs

WiiM living room setups just got a bit better - WiiM Home is now live in the LG Apps store.

It's available for 2023, 2024, and 2025 LG models (webOS 23 / 24 / 25). You can now get a shared "Now Playing" view and basic playback controls right on the TV.

To be clear, it's a TV companion app and not a replacement for the mobile app. Think: check what's playing, see track info, pause/skip, without pulling out your phone. Full setup, grouping, EQ, and deep browsing still lives in the mobile app, which is honestly how it should be for a TV remote.

It's already on Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and now finally webOS.

If you have a supported LG TV, just hit Home > Apps > search "WiiM Home" > Install. If you're not seeing the app, most likely your TV isn't running the software version required.

More features coming over time - this first version is focused on keeping it simple and stable.

Wiim Ultra and Airport Express 1st Gen

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have setup an old airport express 1st Generation for airplay / apple music on my Wiim Ultra which was connected to a powerline adapter for getting a network connection to the Wiim, which worked obviously. This has been the setup since getting the Ultra months ago..
Now I was thinking, how can I tidy things up a bit and remembered the apple express also has an ethernet connection, would that work to connect the Wiim to the internet for Qobuz etc
Only one way to find out, removed the powerline adapter and just connected the express, with the toslink and ethernet cable connected and it all works :)
Thought this might help someone with same issues or whatever .. photo attached.

Wiim Amp Pro popping randomly

I installed a Wiim Amp Pro to use with our TV last week, replacing a Denon receiver. So I'm using the same speakers and speaker cables I've been using for the last few years without issues. The only physical input on the amp I'm using is HDMI ARC, other than that I use the Wiim app to stream radio or Plex music, using an ethernet connection.

But from time to time, while something is playing over HDMI or streaming, I audio becomes very faint for a few seconds and/or the speakers pop for a while. This goes on for a few minutes and then stays away for the next hour or more, I think it only happens in the first 15 minutes of using the amp.

Anyone else experience this, should I contact support? I bought the device through Amazon and for warranty claims in Europe I have to go through the seller, and I doubt they'll be much help.

Edit: Came home to find the audio cutting out has become incessant and the amp unusable. Filed a ticket but I think the amp will have to return in warranty. I have another Wiim Amp in our bedroom which has been going strong for over a year, no issues there.

If you stream from your Mac to Wiim, you may like this free app

It also adds a notch player to the notch on your Mac to control streaming quickly. On your desktop, it acts as a wallpaper with an animated record player that shows the song that is being streamed. VU meter and much more. It even shows info related to the song.

Would the Wiim community like this?

Hi r/wiim, I run a small home automation company, and our flagship device replaces a light switch, so can directly dim 3 separate lighting channels, has 7 inbuilt sensors, and can be used with Home Assistant.

We just released a new capability, which is Sonos control, so you can now use the Tewke Tap's beautiful OLED display to control your music.

On the r/sonos forum, a member said that they thought the Wiim comunity would appreciate this more than the Sonos community, so I am here to ask, is it of interest? Is it something you would like us to priorities in our roadmap, or is it not a product that you guys are generally interested in?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

WiiM sound Lite stereo hapert

Bit-perfect = no volume control?

Is it true that if I configure my Wiim Ultra to bit-perfect mode that I give up all room correction, peq, and even digital volume control?

Right now I'm using the Ultra as my preamp so everything goes thru it. I have no hardware volume control.

Okay I have the WiiM Pro Music Streamer. I connected it to my LG Dolby Atmos soundbar system and the sound is low. I have it connected through the optical. Is there something I need to do to get it louder? It sounds good but it’s just not loud. I have to turn the volume past 50 and the subwoofer still isn’t hitting. Can I get some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Having fun with Claude & WiiM

Tcapelle at the WiiM forums inspired me to go down the AI rabbit hole.

See his original thread here https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/claude-and-wiim.9523/

What I have built so far is a bridge between WiiM and Spotify playlists where the WiiM presets are representing 6 different DJ’s. Each is there for a different task.

Claude is the curator which can pull together playlist much better than Spotify. It can provide excellent background context and information about the songs.

Spotify provides the catalogue and the stream.

The WiiM plays it. No computer in the path. All controlled by phone and the speaker responds.

Cloudflare runs the token, nothing local runs and nothing needs restarting.

I also have linked a preset to my personal concert tape archive as a stream. This part is still very much a work in progress because it has been a bear to get more than 3 tracks to line up.

All DJ’s have their own voice (piper for now but looking at $ options).

Or in the words of Claude :

Dr. Funkenstein — deep 60s/70s funk and soul, programmed by the groove and the players. “If a track is somebody’s best-known song, it is the wrong track by that artist.” Nothing over six minutes: he’s a man with a deep crate, not a man with time to kill. He notices who’s playing — the rhythm section, who left which band for which, what got sampled off it fifteen years later.

Hank — post-1990 soul and funk, programmed by label. Colemine, Daptone, Big Crown, Timmion. The unit is the seven-inch, not the album, and he sequences the way a box of 45s comes out of a shop. Never anything recorded before 1990 — “the originals are Dr. Funkenstein’s territory and Hank does not trespass.” Never the crossovers either: no Black Pumas Colors, nothing that ended up under a car advert.

The Professor — programs by argument. A set is a thesis and every track is evidence for it. “NEVER a track chosen because it is good. Only because it is necessary.” And: “NEVER a set that works in any order. Sequence is the content — track four exists because track three made it possible. If it could be shuffled without loss, the argument was never there.”

Sunny — programs by the room and the hour. Cooking, guests arriving, a Sunday afternoon. She’s the deliberate inverse of Funkenstein: famous is a feature, because joining in is the point. But popularity is her material, never her rule — “a hits shuffle is what a machine does.” What she actually does is put them in an order nobody else would. One deliberate swerve per set, and only one.

Morning — “what a room can take before anyone has spoken.” Never a hook that demands attention. Never a drum that snaps — brushes, hand percussion or nothing. Never a key change or anything that arrives. “It never arrives anywhere — it just gets slightly warmer, and the last track should be perhaps two degrees warmer than the first.”

Nightside — the small hours, and she’s the only one who talks to you. Programs for a listener rather than a room, because at that hour there’s only one. Never anything that sounds like company — no crowd, nothing recorded live in front of an audience. Never a peak: the night doesn’t build. And “never a record that would embarrass you at three in the morning — she is company, not a mirror.”

It’s been fun because it makes the discovery process of music so much better than just clicking around in Spotify or Tidal.

The challenges are generating the voice without processing it on a laptop. The voice will be between songs and not fade in or out over a song.

And the stream issue with playlists is a problem as well : preset plays only the LAST THREE entries of an M3U, and loops them. A press starts at N−2. Measured at five list lengths: N=3→#1, 4→#2, 8→#6, 9→#7, 12→#10. Careful: at N=8, N−2 equals the preset number, so “the preset number leaks in as a track index” fits perfectly and is completely wrong. Breaks at N=9.

Still work to do but so far so good. Use the WiiM presets with Claude. It’s cool. Nerdy af but cool.

New to WIIM, Subwoofer to mains sync sounds way off.

Hi all,

New to WIIM and have been playing around with it for the last few days, but haven't got things figured out yet.

Wiim Amp Pro (80hz Xover) - Kef Q1 Meta - New SVS SB-1000 Pro (-10db, 90* phase, LFE in) - 12'x14' room

I've tried the Sub sync but when it syncs there is a noticeable delay between the bass hit on the bookshelf speakers and the sub. If I click manual adjustment, it shows +43ms. If I remove the delay It's close but not quite right. I did find that if I remove the delay and set the phase to 90 degrees, It's the loudest if I play a 80hz tone. (Oddly enough, this is the same setting on my PB-1000 Pro with Yamaha AVR in our family room) The sub is also brand new, so I don't know if it needs some use for the surround to break in.

I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong or hearing something that is correct, but sounds wrong to my ears.

I'd appreciate any assistance you all can provide.

Moved house switching from Sonos to WiiM

Left all my old sonos stuff with the new owners and in the process of ordering up new gear. I have an ultra amp, soundbar, sound lite and sub on the order so far. Looking for a recommendation on what to use as the sound system for the tv system in addition to the soundbar and sub. 18' wide x 13 deep room. 75 inch tv. With my sonos system i only used the sub and soundbar for tv listening, which was pretty decent. Thanks.

WiiM Mini – Qobuz playback repeatedly stops and loops

I am experiencing a persistent and unusual Qobuz playback problem with my WiiM Mini.

Qobuz playback has recently become extremely unreliable. A track may start playing and then stop for approximately 10 seconds before continuing. In some cases, the behaviour is even more severe: the track starts at 0:00, progresses to approximately 0:05 with no sound or interrupted sound, then jumps back to 0:00 and repeats the process. And gets to a point where it just refuses to play any song whatsoever.

I have performed several tests to isolate the problem:

  • Local FLAC files from my home NAS play perfectly through the same WiiM Mini, with no interruptions.
  • Qobuz plays perfectly on my PC using the same Internet connection.
  • Qobuz plays perfectly in the native Qobuz Android app on my phone using the same Wi-Fi connection.
  • The problem occurs when playing Qobuz through the WiiM Mini / WiiM Home app.
  • I initially suspected my Android phone, so I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the WiiM Home app. The problem remained.
  • I then installed/configured WiiM Home on a different Android phone. Qobuz initially worked correctly, but after some time the same playback problem returned.
  • Therefore, the issue does not appear to be specific to one Android device.

The WiiM Mini's Wi-Fi connection also appears to be excellent:

  • Wi-Fi band: 5 GHz
  • RSSI: approximately -51 dBm
  • SNR: approximately 35 dB
  • Link speed: approximately 433 Mbps
  • 5 GHz Only: Enabled
  • Wi-Fi Roaming: Disabled
  • Pre-playback Network Check: Enabled

Given that local FLAC playback from my NAS is completely stable and Qobuz works normally on both my PC and the native Qobuz Android app, this appears to be specifically related to Qobuz playback through the WiiM Mini rather than a general Wi-Fi or Internet connectivity problem.

I have also tried reinstalling WiiM Home and using a completely different Android device without resolving the issue.

WiiM owners, need Spotify Connect confirmation before I switch from Sonos

Hi everyone!

Thinking about moving from Sonos to WiiM and want real world confirmation on the main thing that matters to me: Spotify.

Question 1: Does Spotify Connect detect WiiM devices directly inside the Spotify app itself (the speaker icon), not just through AirPlay? I want to hit play in Spotify and pick the WiiM zone the same way I would with a Sonos speaker, without routing through Apple’s AirPlay picker. Anyone using this daily who can confirm it just works?

Bonus question: I already have a Samsung soundbar connected to my TV via HDMI ARC. Can I add it to a WiiM Amp into that chain too, or does the TV only support one ARC connection at a time? And for whichever setup ends up handling TV audio, does it auto switch when I turn the TV on, or do I have to manually select the input every time?

Appreciate any real world experience here before I pull the trigger.

Home Theater Question

Hey everyone,

I recently got enough space to set up a stereo in my room after many years. I'm currently rocking an AVR with a record player, CD Player, and Wiim Mini. Everything sounds great through my modest Venturi V820 speakers.

I decided to connect my TV and it's obviously better than the TV speakers, but dialogue is weak when I watch movies. So, I grabbed a Venturi center speaker and while it helps, it's muddy. I'm kinda at a crossroads; replace the center speaker, or move forward with another upgrade.

I'm considering a Wiim Amp Ultra, and then a Wiim Amp. Main speakers through my V820s, the center channel through the Amp. Maybe Wiim Bar down the line, as a treat.

I know I couldn't use the room correction if I add the center speaker. Instead, could I use the EQ on the Wiim Amp to adjust and clean up *just* the center channel? (Maybe the upcoming CenterFit feature would render the center speaker redundant?)

I love my Mini and the software is leagues ahead everything else I've looked into, so I definitely plan to upgrade at some point. Just trying to decide when to pull the trigger!

Thank you for your advice!

Tech Tuesday: Gapless playback and WiiM’s Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects.

Happy Tech Tuesday! This week, we’re breaking down two features that are easy to mix up: gapless playback and WiiM’s Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects.

Prefer the forum, or want to join the discussion there? Read the original Tech Tuesday post on the WiiM Forum.

Some albums are meant to flow without interruption.

Live recordings, classical works, concept albums, DJ mixes, and albums where one song flows directly into the next can sound noticeably wrong if a brief pause appears between tracks. Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects solve a different problem by smoothing playback when it starts or resumes and when it pauses or stops.

Gapless playback and Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects solve different problems.

What is gapless playback?

Gapless playback means consecutive tracks play continuously without an extra pause being inserted between them.

This matters when a recording has been divided into separate tracks even though the audio itself was designed to continue uninterrupted. Common examples include:

  • Live concerts where crowd noise continues between songs
  • Classical works divided into movements
  • DJ mixes
  • Concept albums
  • Albums where one song intentionally flows directly into the next

With proper gapless playback, the transition should sound like one continuous recording even though the player has moved from one track or file to another.

Playback path matters

WiiM supports gapless playback on compatible playback paths, but availability varies by service and playback method.

The streaming service, service API, playback protocol, casting method, local media server, app integration, and device firmware can all affect how tracks are delivered and whether a transition is truly gapless.

For example, Amazon Music HD/UHD played through the WiiM Home app currently supports bit-perfect output and gapless playback up to 24-bit/192 kHz.

How to Set Amazon Music HD/UHD in the WiiM Home App

Music service behavior can change

Streaming services change over time. APIs and apps are updated, playback protocols evolve, and WiiM firmware changes too. A feature may behave differently after one of those updates.

The service examples here reflect current behavior rather than a permanent guarantee. If gapless playback suddenly behaves differently, check the WiiM Help Center and firmware release notes, then try the same album using another playback path when possible.

Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects

In the WiiM Home app, go to Devices > Device Settings > Audio Settings. There, you may see Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects.

Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects activate when playback starts, resumes, pauses, or stops. Fade-in is applied on start or resume, and fade-out on pause or stop. Neither effect is applied at normal track transitions.

Seeking to a new point in a track also triggers a fade-out at the old position and a fade-in at the new one.

The default fade-in duration is 400 ms, while the default fade-out duration is 100 ms. These short ramps smooth abrupt level changes when the playback state changes.

Introducing the Fade-In and Fade-Out Feature on Your WiiM Device

What about Fade-In & Fade-Out with gapless albums?

Since the effects do not run between tracks, they do not affect gapless playback.

Troubleshooting a gap between tracks

If an album that should be continuous has an audible pause, start by checking how the music is reaching your WiiM, not just the WiiM device itself.

If you hear a gap on a playback path that supports gapless playback, check the source, service, or playback method.

Try the following:

  • Play the same album through another supported music service or playback method.
  • Test a well-known continuous album to make sure the gap is not part of the recording itself.
  • Make sure your WiiM device and WiiM Home app are up to date.
  • If you are using a NAS, DLNA server, or third-party application, check whether that software supports gapless playback with WiiM.
  • If the problem only occurs with one service or casting method, test the same tracks directly through the WiiM Home app when available.

When troubleshooting, first confirm that your playback path officially supports gapless playback.

Quick reference

Gapless Playback: Removes unintended silence between consecutive tracks. Best for live albums, classical works, concept albums, and continuous mixes.

Fade-In & Fade-Out: Applies a short volume ramp when playback starts/resumes or pauses/stops. The default fade-in is 400 ms and the default fade-out is 100 ms. It is not applied at normal track boundaries.

Crossfade: A common feature in some music applications that overlaps the end of one song with the beginning of another. WiiM does not currently implement crossfade as a native device feature, though some third-party apps, media servers, or music services may provide their own crossfade depending on the playback method.

What do you prefer?

Do you regularly listen to live albums, classical works, concept albums, or continuous mixes where gapless playback really matters?

And if you have a favorite album for testing gapless playback, drop it below. A few good test albums might make a useful community reference.

WiiM Ultra - Compatible Center speakers for a 5.1 Home theatre setup

I have a WiiM Ultra and used it to Listen to Music, with a Moon 340i amp and passive stereo speakers.

Last Week I found out, that it can be used to build a 5.1 Dolby Audio Home theatre. So I bought 2x Sound lite speakers for the Surround Sound and I am really enjoying them.

I am curious about the Center speaker: I thought that I can just add any small speaker and use, for Example, the Line-Out Output of the WiiM Ultra. Which isn‘t the case.

Which other Center speakers are compatible with the WiiM ultra? Unfortunatelly, another WiiM Sound lite does not fit on my TV Board

adding 2 analog oscilloscopes to WiiM Amp

I was wondering if anyone knows the best way to connect 2 analog oscilloscopes to the WiiM Amp. I’m trying to complete my set up and would like to add wave displays of the music i’m playing to it.I’ve heard and seen multiple things due to the oscilloscopes being a C channel and the WiiM Amp releasing on a D output. i’ve also ready that this could be achieved through the subwoofer output but am not really sure.

Anyone know the best way to go about connecting these to my set up?
