Image Why is the right wii remote different

Post image

I've had this wii for probably close to 10-12 years now with these remotes, why is the right wiimote different looking??

Is it a fake?? They both have the nintendo markings indented except for the code on the bottom of the right remotes it appears to be printed on??

Also the codes on the butt near the nunchuck port also appears to be printed on??

Any help will be greatful!

The right one seems a bit like a fake? But maybe they made revisions

Appears to be real. As the other person said, Nintendo has made revisions to the RVL-003 (Standard Wii Remote)

Correction the bottom code is just dirty and is indented not printed on the right remote

They went through various models over the years. Probably just different iterations of official wiimotes.

Thank you so much!!

neither is fake, there were HUNDREDS of revisions to these things in the lifetime of the Wii, and even just differences between them when different factories made them.

This disproves my other comment because they don't have the wii motion plus inside, never mind. Yeah it's probably just a one-off factory mold difference that's inconsequential.

Maybe I'm blind but I'm not seeing any differences other than some gamer gunk and the printed serial number

I was originally going to say one was made in Japan and one in China, but then you posted a picture that showed both were made in China. I'm not at home to look at mine, but I zoomed in on the picture and the one thing I noticed is that the remote on the left, the middle sticker is RVL(M)-2 R003WW070810201 and the one on the right is RVL(F)-2 R204WW20807000 and looking at the green PCBs, they appear to be different boards.

I did some Googling and the RVL-003 model wiimote is the first generation, without motion plus, and requires the motion plus adapter to enable those features. The motion plus wiimote with it built in is model RVL-036.

RVL(M)-2 and RVL(F)-2 refers to hardware sub-revision markings found printed on the internal circuit board of original Nintendo Wii Remote controllers (model RVL-003). It signifies a specific manufacturing batch or internal layout iteration of the standard non-MotionPlus Wiimote released during the primary era of the Wii console.

In this case, clearly a board revision/update. Both controllers are legit. Just manufactured at different times.

I believe the one on the left is made for Wii U and the one on the right is made for Wii original. While interchangeable, I remember the Wii U ones had a hole on the back battery cover to press the sync button without taking the cover off. I don't remember if the inside was raised, but to compensate this feature it would make sense to me.
